I'm kinda digging Stromkirk Occultist after testing it in my hellbent deck. Pseudo card advantage without actually losing hellbent(or risk losing it because you can't cast your double draw)? Bingo!

Avaricious Dragon. It was the first truly double-edged(madness wasn't quite a thing yet) card I found that I wanted to build a deck around. Since then I've become a huge fan of Master of the Feasts, Abyssal Persecutor, Desecration Demon, Sire of Insanity.. Sin Prodder.. powerful cards that fuck with everyone, except YOU planned for it :)

General Magic / Re: red madness engine?

Hmm, I DO like Jaya Ballard, Task Mage! Think I'll test her out. I DO wish red had a two-drop "free" madness engine to compete with the other colors; ravenous bloodseeker is so damnably close to aquamoeba, but seeing as how activating its ability twice in one turn would kill it, it's just not there.

fun(if frustrating to play against) concept haha! Rite of Consumption would make for a fun win condition- unless your sole aim is to get your wins through concedes ;3

General Magic / red madness engine?
« on: July 01, 2016, 03:15:10 am »
So I'm trying to find a heavy madness engine for red. Black has Oona's Prowler, green has Wild Mongrel, blue has Aquamoeba.. Where's the love for red?

some cards I find useful in my wolf deck: Geier reach bandit paired with immerwolf is an extremely handy combination that essentially allows you to ignore pesky flip conditions. Trample is excellent, so Full Moon's Rise(also lets you attack go balls to the wall with an on-demand board regen), Howlpack Resurgence(flash/instant is amazing in werewolf decks, as you can cast zero spells on your turn in order to flip your wolves then still get your casts in on your opponent's turn), and breakneck rider help with that. Kessig Forgemaster and Lambholt Pacifist(being a 3/3 for 2mana is excellent by itself, not to mention that with your werewolf buffing enchantments out it pretty much activates itself) are also excellent 2drops; maybe sideboard them with gatstaf sheperd in case you're going against a deck in which intimidate won't be useful, or mainboard them and sideboard the shepherds instead?

Just my two cents, maybe it's not what you're looking for- good luck and have fun :)

Thanks! Yeah, that does look better. I threw ray of revelation in there intending to find something better to swap in- the idea's that it's extremely easy to discard, and then I've got a 1drop instant speed enchantment removal, but tranquility fills that gap nicely :)

Pauper GR Madness

Heya! So I'm brand new to Pauper, and have been experimenting with different color combination Madness homebrews. I think so far I like green and red the most- this is what I've got right now. Any suggestions, particularly for sideboard/utility, would be very much appreciated :)

Deck Reviews / Re: [Modern] Rakdos Madness

Thanks for the advice! I particularly like the idea of tossing a gurmag angler or two in, that delve will be easy to take advantage of soon after midgame, and replacing bloodgift demon with cheaper options :)

The Vessel of Volatility ramp idea sounds like it could be extremely workable(although grr, why are all the good modern-legal non-green ramp abilities red and not black?!), although honestly I'm thinking it may be a better inspiration for my hellbent deck- the ramp+ haste would go EXTREMELY well for surprise attacks with jagged poppet and rakdos augermage haha :) This deck DOES have quite a bit of red in it, so perhaps the red-ramp bias could work well here!

Deck Reviews / [Modern] Rakdos Madness

Rakdos Madness

An attempt at integrating Rakdos with Madness! Uses heavy upkeep-based draw creatures such as bloodgift demon and sin prodder (which can trick out favorable damage trades to activate rakdos, lord of riots) for multiple draws, while discard effects such as oona's prowler and call the bloodline allow easy madness outlets AND keeping Dread Slag intact despite the heavy draws which are its typical bane. Input much appreciated, I've made this deck attempt a couple times and it didn't work out well for various reasons, but this one I put together today and has been testing well thus far :)

Where could one find a full MTG history? How much is it is in novel format, etc, and if so, is there a chronological list for the canon? I've read a couple of jace novels, neither of which seemed particularly well put together, and spent plenty of downtime reading through wiki articles, but I've been wondering this for a while :)

Deck Reviews / Re: Bouncing a creature repeatedly

Temur Sabertooth may be a more reliable method of bouncing, since with a creature like mistcutter your opponent is probably going to be willing to shell out 3 life to take it out of the picture
