No, it's not that simple. I can't get experience if the only players I encounter are going to treat me like dirt just for not being tournament-level

General Magic / A Casual Among Tryhards

I've been having issues lately in enjoying myself at my LGS. Most of the other players I see there are the more hardcore tournament players who have their own little clique set up where everybody knows eachother and their decks, so games between them go by at a rapid pace. I tried joining them for a 6-way EDH (for my very first try at playing EDH, period), and it was pretty obvious that I wasn't part of their inner circle. I had to keep asking them to slow down and explain the cards that I didn't know and what they did, and they got pretty annoyed at me just because I didn't have every card in their deck memorized.

I don't play tournaments, I don't have the money or time to keep up with the Standard rotation, but I still feel like I deserve to be at that shop as much as the high-rollers and regulars. I want to enjoy the game, and for that I need other people, but I don't feel welcome at all no matter what shop I go to because the regulars always sniff me out as someone who doesn't belong. What can I do?

When I saw the name "Taxes" in this deck, I thought it was going to be all about using Extort. Like, Syndic of Tithes and Basilica Guards knocking down your door and going "It's tax day, succa!" while singing "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" and taking all your stuff.

It has been helpful. Thank you for your input. Commander is a new thing for me, and I've found it a tough transition from regular deck types, but most of the people at my local card shop play Commander exclusively, so I'm trying to adapt

Tokens, Tokens and More Tokens!

Come on down to this deck, for all your token needs! We got green tokens! We got white tokens! We got birds, knights, centaurs, saprolings, even rhino tokens, all for the low low price of 2 or 3 mana!

*slaps roof of deck* this bad boy can fit so many populate effects in it, you'll soon be running out of table space; hell, you'll be running out of /floor/ space if you play your cards right!

But wait, there's more! I'm practically /giving/ these tokens away in this deck! Call now and we'll give you the friends and family price on enchantments and creature effects that'll buff up and protect your tokens from harm. This is why you always pay for the undercoating, folks!

So come on down to Tokens, Tokens and More Tokens!
(If this salesman bit made you laugh, give it a like ^^)

Thank you for your suggestions. I definitely recognized a good chunk of those card, and I'll dig around in my boxes to see if the others might turn up and add them to the pile.

I'll add the more expensive cards that I know I don't own (like Kambal and Sanguine Bond) to my wishlist to keep an eye out for. I'm sure I can find someone at the card store who might have some of those.

Have you thought about adding Suture Priest? That way, you can simultaneously gain life from your creatures, and punish your opponent when they summon creatures

Angel Deck

(I'm working on narrowing this deck down to 60 cards, so any suggestions on what to trim would be greatly appreciated.)

One of my oldest decks, updated and changed around over the years. The main theme is low-cost human creatures to compliment high-cost heavy-hitting angels, with some life gain and protection spells mixed in-between.

The staple of this deck is Angelic Overseer, which is one of the first mythic rares I remember pulling from a booster, so I built the deck around them and other angels. I don't do tournaments, so it's made for casual play using whatever scraps I have in my collection.
