Okay not having a card is a valid reason but counterbalance is some kind of Lucky game. So it doesnt do a very reliable job for you.
and for the mill cards, those are also very luck based and a very big majority of decks are playing cards like eternal witness so they dont really feel to bad if you mill of something.
if you dont want to care about the stuff they are doing play Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir. this makes your opponent only cast in sourery speed and lets be honest you play so much counterspells that the only thing you are maybe worried about is a counterspell follow up witch Teferi, Mage of Zhalfirdenies to 100%. Play cards who actually do things for you. Random mill cards can help a flooding opponent as well.
imagine the following - you are in a game and its getting close, then you pplay a land for turn and mill off 2 lands from your opponents deck. Your opponent topdecks a card like Emrakul, the Promised End. This would be a lost game for you just because you milled your opponent. Sure it can go the other way as well but ppl usually construckt their edh decks in a way that they can interact with their lost stuff or just play copies of cards who do similar stuff.

i dont see why youre playing altar of dementia. You are playing creatures to copy your own and your opponents stuff. probably to raise the ammount of milling creatures you have access to or to use your opponents value. but none of those creatures are good fodder for the altar since altar looks at a creatures power. and i dont think you want to sac crabs with 0 attack or the stuff from your opponent you have just copied. i would rather use this space to play some more graveyard hate like tormonds crypt or relic of progenitus. if youre not running stuff that gets rid of the gy youre loosing to all decks who are playing nexus of fate what is a really popular card in edh. not speking of all the other good legal cards in edh who give you a good mill out protection. also a lot decks are playing lab maniac and oracle themselve so youre helping out those decks either. those are points you should need to take care of.

Don't ask why i'm not playing "Erdwal Illuminator" This card just sucks. Its a 2 mana dude whos only good if you have it early game. then you can cast it for 2 in round 2-3 and it does litarraly nothing for you. then the next turn you cast probably lonis and a creature to get 2 clues. And still its just a clue. so not much work put in. youre probably tapped out so your opponent can play and you cant make a nen token creature their turn so illuminator is again useless then your turn you cast 2 creatures and get 1 clue more. wow one clue because this ability is Once per turn for some dumb reason. GTFO Erdwal illuminator

Cast Vilis next turn cast commander Tap all your mana - Pay 10  Draw 10? have a bunch of cards in hand have a bunch of mana?
Sounds valid to me.
What about Font of Agonies?
Activate commander Pay 10 life put 10 counters on font Rip 2 creatures each turn sound like value

No KCI? No Flusterstorm? Not even fast mana like Mana vault? if youre looking for a way to play this deck fair you should consider the 6 mana ugin but dont forget that jhoira is a abomination of a commander who can go infinite at turn 2 and a lot more dumb stuff. this is more a "were leaving the Fun zone Commander" than a "lets play magic the gathering together" commander.
