Deck Reviews / Re: [Standard] rank

Hey there, I'm glad you're having fun with this deck but I have some critiques. It seems a little all over the place, like it feels like an aggro deck in some respects, but has cards like Tome that I think would slow it down. What aspect of the deck feels most important? Because I think you should focus on that. I'd also make the deck more consistent with more copies of the important or best cards if practical for you.

Deck Reviews / [Pioneer] W/B Axis of Mortality (Proposal)

W/B Axis of Mortality (Proposal)

This is a rough draft for a Pioneer Axis of Mortality Deck. The deck focuses on getting your life total low, possibly even to 0 or less, then switching with your opponent with Axis of Mortality. Gideon of the Trials acts as a cushion so you don't automatically die. Adanto Vanguard and Doom Whisperer are quick ways to drain your life total. This build aims to protect Gideon and yourself, but I am debating using prison effects and/or more Gideon walkers instead.

Since this is an early build (for a format I am new to), all comments and criticisms are appreciated. Thanks for giving this a view!

Deck Reviews / Re: [Standard] U/B Kefnet Improvise v2

Thank you so much for the in-depth advice, Kapitane!  I totally see where you're coming from, I do get that I don't have the fastest setup in the world, nor do I have the most efficient cards out there for some of the things I want to do, but I'm working with what I have and I'm weighing my options.

Firstly, about Champion of Wits, I am aware that it doesn't end up giving me a net gain of cards at first, but I wish to use it for lack of better card advantage on a creature. As for Glint-Nest Crane, I have tried it and found it to be unreliable because the majority of the deck isn't artifacts. I wish I had access to some really spicy 1 to 2 drop creatures that accomplish exactly what I want, so maybe when Rivals comes out there will be some cool additions to be made.

I am thinking about the removal you've suggested, I have a couple of fatal pushes and a Battle at the Bridge so I can play around with those.

I appreciate all the advice and I'll evaluate the deck when I get more pieces for it, but honestly I know I wouldn't win any tournaments with it so there's a 99.99% probability that I'll play it just for fun. Anyway, Happy Holidays! I was really surprised to get such a detailed comment on my deck. Thanks again!

Deck Reviews / [Standard] U/B Kefnet Improvise v2

U/B Kefnet Improvise v2

This is the upgraded version of a deck I conceptualized in Amonkhet Standard. This deck is untested and still being built, so feedback is appreciated. The strategy of the deck is to play artifacts (especially Inspiring Statuary) and cards that draw. Then you improvise off the artifacts to draw, thus fueling Kefnet the Mindful. Counters and a little bit of removal are meant to keep your opponent in check while you get all of the pieces in place. If Kefnet swinging in every turn/every other turn isn't enough, Marionette Master will allow you sacrifice treasures to decimate your opponent's life total.

Again, this an idea because I think the potential of improvise is overlooked yet it seems able to do awesome things. Let me know what you think and any additions/changes you would make to the deck.

Interesting deck. I have a question though. What do the asterisks by certain planeswalkers mean? It's something you didn't explain. Either way, it's cool that you made a consistent and reasonably priced deck with so many planeswalker cards.

Athreos Aristocrats

This is my attempt at a more playable commander build. Please leave any feedback you have, I am still working with what I have and thus still need more cards (thus, feedback is incredibly helpful). Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim may be a decent replacement for Athreos, but only testing will tell. Description to be added later.

Oh wow. That comment just legitimately made my day! I'm so glad you like it, I just thought of it one day and realized it's actually doable. I hope we can all see decks like this that are outside of what is considered normal in standard (pirates, tokens, dinos, etc.). I really like to imagine creative decks, and this is just the result of a flash of inspiration. I had no idea it would evoke a response like yours, though. Thanks so much!

Cool idea for a standard deck, but there's just one small problem: Grasp of Darkness is rotating out. I'd figure Walk the Plank or fatal push would be the closest replacement. Anyway I like that you're making a cycle of deck lists for Ixalan. Cool ideas!

I think this is really cool! I'm a relatively new player, so I never knew how much synergy there was with Ally creatures. Then again, the best stuff in this deck comes from the original Zendikar block it looks like.

Okay, I was just seeing if you had a different reason for making an Elysium deck. You see, there's a game called Xenoblade Chronicles 2 coming out for the Nintendo Switch in December, and I'm hyped for it so I had to jump at the chance to see if some stranger on the internet is making a reference giving the timing (lol). But anyway, this is a really cool deck. I wish I had this many angels :/

May I ask where you got the name for this deck?

Hey, I noticed this deck while working on one of mine, and I have a concern for the deck. Many of these cards are going to rotate out of standard literally in one week, so anything from SOI you have here won't be legal soon. You might know this, as this is a WIP, so you may have put them in as temporary fill-ins, but if not I just wanted you to know. Otherwise I like the look of this deck; I recently have fallen in love with Orzhov deckbuilding, so this is always interesting to me.

Deck Reviews / [Standard] W/B Axis "Reverse-Curse"

W/B Axis "Reverse-Curse"

This is a deck I am constructing based on Axis of Mortality, which is coming in Ixalan. Basically the deck works as the opposite of a curse control deck, directing life loss effects at yourself to intentionally drain your life total, hence the name "Reverse-Curse." Using Axis of Mortality's effect to swap your low life total with your opponent's is the end goal of the deck. To ensure that we stay alive with this strategy, I am using Gideon of the Trials (who is unfortunately pretty expensive) for his emblem and a Martial Paragon as a replacement. Finally, to keep all of the pieces in play, I have included plenty of discard spells, including Duress from Ixalan, to get rid of potential threats to your board state or your opponent's generally most dangerous cards. Please let me know what you think in the comments, feedback is much appreciated, since I don't have much of it built yet!

I was thinking the same thing, you can't logically get Gishath out that early, so I was wondering if you meant something else by it. Otherwise this deck looks good, your build is pretty much the consensus on Dino decks from what I can tell.
