Just recently finished making an Background deck idea based around Volo + Master Chef. It's a Semi-Budget so no card over $10. Zodiac Rabbit and Thassa's Oracle are exceptions because Rabbit and a Draw Win-Con respectfully.

The plan behind the deck is every creature cast can add a creature type to Volo's Guide to MEATS, so there is very little repetition in creature types. (I tried to only use each creature type twice at most. so No more than 2 Humans, 2 Elves, 2 Beasts, etc.) Also, I'm not using Changelings since I want something more interesting that just a Simic Changeling deck.

To explain the Subsections in a little more detail:
Land - Self Explanatory
Ramp - ^
+1/+1 Counters - Cards that interact with or use +1/+1 counters
Zoo - Creatures added to mainly be used as various creature types for Volo's Guide to MEATS
Interaction - Cards that can be played in response to opponent's spells or used as removal
Utility - Useful cards that don't fit any other category

Big Fat Hippo

This is my first attempt at a Voltron deck and wanted to get some constructive criticism about it.

It is an Aura-based Voltron deck, with the auras split into the categories of Ramp/Land Auras, Protection, Vigilance, Getting In for damage, and big buffs. Other cards include Card Draw, Interaction (in the form of Counterspells, Spot Removal, and Boardwipes that don't hurt the Hippo), and generic Ramp. And of course certain cards can fill multiple categories. Tuvasa serves as a secondary commander in cases where Phelddagrif can't be used or has too high of a commander tax.

Simple Ground Rules:

• Hippo stays as the Commander. Yes, I know better ones exist but I want to use the Hippo.
• I'd prefer to avoid adding $10+ cards unless they make a Huge Change for the deck. I am a broke college student.
