« on: June 14, 2018, 04:36:00 pm »
Salve a tutti! Ho trovato questa meravigliosa lista per shadowborn apostle
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/shadowborn-apostle-athreos-deck/
Purtroppo è sopra il mio budget, quindi sarebbero ben accolti dei suggerimenti per sostituire le carte più costose. Queste son le carte che vorrei sostituire:
Recruiter of the guard
Godless shrine
Homeward path
Strip mine
Urborg
Phyrexian altar
Demonic tutor
idyllic tutor
Steelshaper's gift
Enlightned tutor

Temo però che l'altare dovrò prenderlo...

I'll take a look at both those decks, thanks! Meanwhile I was calculatig the price of Merfolk, and here in Italy I could build it for 250 euros with the caverns included. Would it be a nice jump from stompy or does it actually make not much of a difference?

Hi to everyone! Hope this is the right section... I've just built my first modern deck, a classic mono green stompy. I'm planning to use it until some cash comes in for christmas. Combined with (hopefully) some tickets won at my local game store, I think I can achieve a budget of 250 euros... so my question is: which deck can I build with that kind of money that would be more efficient than the stompy? I mean, if I have to spend a lot of money and there's not much of a difference in terms of victories, I'd prefer to wait for a more consistent budget. Keep in mind that I'm from Italy and here the prices are almost half of the american ones (example: karn is 60USD, here I can buy it for 38 euros; my stompy deck costed me something around 70-80 euros). I'm new to the format so I really don't have a preference on which deck I can build, but from what I've seen I dislike combo decks a lot, I prefer interacting with my opponent (expect for Living end, for some reason I like it). Maybe elves and merfolk would be nice, but also a budget version of a better deck which could be improved over time, for example I like affinity but it is too much pricey for me now... I also like dredge, but I fear that there could be other heavy bans.

Salve a tutti!

Deck Reviews / Re: [Standard] Tier 1 Zombies? Could it be?
« on: May 04, 2017, 08:19:29 pm »
I don't play a whole lot of standard, but here are some cards for consideration.

Harsh Scrutiny, Scarab Feast, Never // ReturnTransgress the Mind could be good in your sideboard as well.  Controlling their hand can be such an advantage, not to mention just seeing their potential.
Scarab Feast can keep them from getting the stuff you've taken away back, too.  If nothing else cycle is cool.
Wait,  I actually put lay bare the heart instead of transgress. Same thing, but the first is better, I think

If you splash in white, you can access Wayward Servant and Binding Mumny (good combined with Kefnet's Monument)
I tried splashing white exactly for those two cards (and also time to reflect) but I think I like more this version... it is a bit more aggressive and that's what I'm looking for. However the cool thing with this deck is that if one day I wanna try a different path, I'll just splash white for those cards paying basically nothing cause they're cheap. In fact, I think I'm gonna buy this deck from my local gamestore next week and I'm gonna buy those cards too just in case I wanna try something different. Also, I think a pair of cradle of the accursed wouldn't hurt my manabase since I'm running 20 swamps.

I thought I included scarab feast and transgress in the side but it seems I forgot them. I definitely like those cards.

Brrraaaains! (Tier 1) Zombie deck

I've never believed that zombies could make it to tier 1, but I'm seeing a lot of zombie lists in the top 8s... and they actually seems really powerful, enough to beat the strongest decks. So I decided to give you my take on zombies... what do you think?

Sooo... I'm seeing a weird amount of zombies deck in the top 8 of mtgo. Could it be that finally zombies are ready to make it to tier 1? I'm brewing a decklist in the meanwhile, just to see if they can be as dangerous as it seems... also, we shouldn't forget that if they're strong now, they'll probably be even better in hour of devastation since the zombie theme will be carried over to the next set.

LOL you ask what is the most promising in "amonket" standard? didn't ask for the pros, didn't ask for EDH, or for entire standard.
Yet since we are nitpicking.. lets look completely at the zombies. I have already mentioned the 3 cards that do pump up your zombies. Yet lets look at these 3 zombies that work well with each other from this set and previous.

Dread Wanderer, Relentless Dead and Prized Amalgam will continuously bring one another back. Since I was sticking in black and white. The 4 top removal spells of fatal push, stasis snare, grasp of darkness and cast out are in those colors as well. Not to mention what better way to deal with Gideon then Time to Reflect.

Now we also have wayward servant for when you are continuously bringing back zombies.
Let's see what else.. hmmm.... Sacred Cat when embalmed is also a zombie.. nothing wrong with getting more life especially early game.. Then how about Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet.. and for more recursion.. Lets see hmmmm...

Oh yeah all 3 Liliana.. Liliana, Death's Majesty, Liliana, Death's Wielder, and Liliana, the Last Hope.. Plus if you can't pay 2 to constantly give your zombies menace, just play Graf Harvest for 1. I could go on with other zombies or other cards that put out zombie tokens as well... Blue has embalm and puts out zombie tokens, black has gravedigger and cards that put out zombie tokens and oh yeah even use this angel of sanctions in the later stages of the game.

But other promising is the -1 counters with the snakes with deathtouch. Constantly taking down your opponents creatures while constantly putting out snakes will definitely be interesting.
I didn't explain myself well enough, sorry for that: what I meant was the most promising deck in standard now that amonkhet has been released (so there are new cards, and new archetypes)

Wait, I thought you could embalm only as a sorcery. At least on Xmage says so. I actually think that emerge has a chance, I've been trying a build that adds bloodrage brawler and hazoret to the original decklist and it's wrecking people's faces just when they don't expect it. So far the most promising decks I tried are this one, Hapatra Jund, G/B Ballista (but we already know it) and U/G Nissa and Rhonas' champion. Hapatra's deck is the most difficult to build because there's so many things you can do... just a few hours ago a friend of mine texted me telling me that I absolutely need to fit a pair of phanarmonicon in the deck, there's so much to discover about this archetype.

I have played against the three meta decks (now there are only two eheheh), then mostly R/W humans and B/W aristocrats. My deck were just budget decks, G/R energy, R/W start your engines and Mardu terrorist deck, as I named it (steal cards, attack with them and sac them). TOday I opened a box of modern masters I won during the Easter lottery at my local card store and I made 130 euros in cards. Pretty meh, but just enough to make a tier 1 deck when we will finally understand the new meta (I'm from Italy and cards are really cheap). Looking forward jund hapatra and Nissa-Rhonas'champion-cast-everything-you-want-completely-free decks. What about emerge? Does it have a chance to really shine? With drake heaven it could jump to tier 1 in my opinion.

G/B/R Jund Hapatra

I modified it, it seems more consistent now. If you want to review another deck of mine, I posted a few days a go a G/U Nissa and Rhonas variation on the same deck you reviewed (but the one you commented was G/U/W).

You just gave a bunch of nasty ideas for the opponent... This seems like a really promising deck among the ones I made, I'll totally turn my attention to this one. When I'll have the modified version I'm gonna post it here, I'll let you know what I can do!
