Commander Deck Reviews / (EDH) Thantis - Battle Tribal
« on: May 30, 2023, 02:38:17 am »
I built this deck in interest of using a s many of the new Battles all at once.

Red and Green have many great battles to choose from, but it was Blacks ability to remove counters all at once is what steered me to Jund

Thantis made the most sense after deliberation based on forcing combat to open up attack routes if I chose to defeat a battle.  Im featuring a diverse group of vigilance creatures to defend with, as well as deterrents that might encourage my opponents to assist me in flipping to the backside.

So far Ive played two games but so far so good.  Its been a lot of fun, and a great use of new cards.  Its definitely not a Tier 1 deck, but let me know what you think or if you have suggestions.

Deck Reviews / Chatterfang All the Squirrel Combos

There is a lot of predictable Chatterfang cards in this deck, but after a few games I edited many of the vanilla squirrel synergy cards out. Now I focus on making collateral tokens while letting the deck do its thing.

Ramp features Land Auras to synergize with Earthcraft in case you don%u2019t have Squirrel Nest yet. Also works with Garruk Wildspeaker.

Secret tech is Tombstone Stairwell to spam extra squirrels in each player%u2019s upkeep.

Super secret tech is Dual Nature, to copy an ETB token spammer, make a squirrel, and double the ETB effect. For example, Deranged Hermit + Chatterfang + Dual Nature generates two DH and 17 squirrels alone.

I honestly don’t know what an Ingenuity Engine actually is, but hopefully I’ve put together all of the right pieces to make it work.

Deck Reviews / [EDH / Commander] Marisi - Eureka Goad

Marisi - Eureka Goad

Game plan:
Step 1:  Ramp up as fast as you can.  Cast Marisi.
Step 2:  Cast Eureka, and hand out as many free gifts to all of your opponents.
Step 3:  Sneak in with Horsemanship/Shadow to trigger Marisi's second ability.
Step 4:  Sit back and watch your opponents kill each other.
Step 5:  Laugh if it actually works.

I find people are generally happy with (symmetrically) drawing lots of cards, and putting them into play for free.   People like to play with their toys.
The deck is purposefully light on mass removal.  I would rather keep all of my opponents creatures in play, and deter them elsewhere than wrath & reset.
