Deck Reviews / [Casual Budget] Wizard Vampires: Dimir or Grixis?
« on: June 26, 2023, 11:18:16 am »
This here is my Dimir Reanimator deck:

https://deckstats.net/decks/144015/3090751-dimir-wizard-bloodline

It actually works fine. Packing cards in the graveyard and reviving them later, you can build good combos and have a lot of opportunities to hinder your opponent.

But sometimes there just isn't enough power. So I sat down and figured I'd add another color. The result looks like this:

https://deckstats.net/decks/144015/3099349-grixis-wizard-bloodline#show__comments

Harmonic Prodigy is a non-legendary version of Naban, Dean of Iteration, so I can control him multiple times to fully escalate Bloodline Necromancer and Archaeomancer, for example. Unlike Ravenous Chupacabra, Markov Enforcer can only destroy creatures that are weaker than or equal to her, but if she enters the battlefield with another vampire through Victimize or Harmonic Prodigy + Bloodline Necromancer, she will fight twice. Additionally, it generates Blood Tokens and has significantly better stats than Ravenous' Chupacabra.
Goblin Flectomancer expands the variety of the deck and fits the sacrificing theme. Niv-Mizzet is an endgame power house, a strong flyer with card draw and point damage.

However, I'm not sure (again) if the three-color deck is better than the two-color variant.

Opinion? Suggestions?

Deck Reviews / Wizard Bloodline

Here is my new deck :)

https://deckstats.net/decks/144015/3090751-wizard-bloodline/de

It's fundamentally based on Bloodline Necromancer, which I was keen to put to good use. Here's what came out:

Organizing: With these cards, I try to get the main strategy cards to the desired place as quickly as possible. Particularly important and strong is Gifts Ungiven: For this I choose Archaeomancer, Bloodline Necromancer, Ravenous Chupacabra and Victimize. No matter which one the opponent discards, the combo cannot be prevented.

Main Strategy: Bloodline Necromancer can spawn any Vampire or Wizard from the Graveyard, mainly to spawn a copy of itself or Archaeomancer. Archaeomancer brings Victimize back into hand. Victimize can revive two creatures, best of which are Bloodline Necromancer and Ravenous Chupacabra. Ravenous Chupacabra can destroy a creature.

Good Stuff:
Butcher of Malakir is a powerful flyer with the ability to force any opponent to sacrifice a creature when one of your creatures dies. This happens quite often because the revive combo allows me to use any creature to block at will. Naban, Dean of Iteration triggers an additional time for each ability that activates when a caster enters the battlefield. Say, Archaeomancer recovers two spells, Bloodline Necromancer recovers two creatures from the graveyard, and so on.

Summary: With the Main Strategy cards you ensure that you always get Victimize in your hand in order to revive Ravenous Chupacabra and as many Bloodline Necromancers as possible, which then revive Archaemancers, which then Victimize brings back into your hand. With enough mana, this can be repeated almost indefinitely.

Lands: Just some cheap Lands cause where playin on a budget. Memorial to Folly is a tool to recover key cards in dire needs.

Deck Reviews / Flickerform is underrated: Naya Auras
« on: June 15, 2023, 05:34:58 pm »
https://deckstats.net/decks/144015/3085078-flickerform

Hello fellow planeswalkers :)

I sat down on a budget deck again after discovering the card Danitha, Benalia's Hope. That's when another card came to mind that I've been wanting to use properly for a long time: Flickerform.

Flickerform Combo:

It's as simple as it is ingenious: when Danitha comes into play, she can put an enchantment or equipment from hand or graveyard onto the battlefield and attach it to herself.
And this is where Flickerform comes into play: Danitha uses her ability to get the enchantment from the hand or from the graveyard and can then be Flickered again and again to get more auras from the graveyard or from the hand, since Flickerform has an interesting side effect , which also flickers Danitha's enchantments, which can trigger Constellation abilities.
This combo makes Danitha, who is already strong even without enchantments, a serious threat.

Early Game:

Champion of the Flame can do big damage with just an aura or two, while Nessian Wanderer brings lands into hand whenever an enchantment enters the battlefield. Benefaction of Rhonas searches for important cards and either puts them in your hand or puts them in the graveyard, from where Danitha and Storm Herald can use their abilities to bring them back.

Aura Spells:

Dragon Mantle lets you draw a card for one mana, triggers Constellation and gives Uril and Champion of the Flame a power boost and a chance to consume unused mana.
Flamespeaker's Will and Mortal Obstinacy are very cheap and can give Champion of the Flame and Uril, the Miststalker an extra power boost, as well as destroy enchantments or artifacts. The combo of Danitha and Flickerform can recycle them as often as you like.
Unquestioned Authority draws a card and gives the enchanted creature Protection from Creatures, so you can attack unscathed, dealing high damage with Champion of the Flame and Uril.
Sage's Reverie even lets you draw multiple cards depending on how many Auras you control and gives the enchanted creature an equally large power boost. With Sage's Reverie + Flickerform you own a powerful draw engine.

Good Stuff:

Swords to Plowshares probably needs no further explanation.
Archon of Sun's Grace possesses the Constellation ability to create Pegasi whenever an enchantment enters the battlefield and then gives them Lifelink. It is also a strong flier that has Flying and Lifelink of its own. Combined with Flickerform + Danitha it can create a huge amount of pegasi tokens.
Uril is very strong, protected by hexproof, and has the same ability as Champion of the Flame.

Finisher:

Storm Herald is a versatile tool to avert impending defeat. When Storm Herald enters the battlefield, you may attach any amount of Auras from your graveyard to creatures on the field. Uril and Archon of Sun's Grace benefit most from Storm Herald, but with enough auras he can also turn into a true fighting machine himself.

Summary:
Danitha + Flickerform allows for strong card draw and the ability to flicker the main creature, Danitha, when she is in danger. That's why you should always activate Flickerform's ability as late as possible.
Champion of the Flame and Uril can get very strong, especially when paired with Storm Herald- With two Sage's Reverie and an Unquestioned Authority, Uril is unblockable, untargetable, and has 20 power, which isn't a bad thing in and of itself. The fact that you can then draw 6 cards makes it even better.

Tips, suggestions and comments are of course always welcome :)

But please make sure that it is a budget deck. The price per card should not be higher than 1€. (Source: Scryfall)

So here's my latest Duel Commander deck... I always feel like I'm forgetting a certain card when it comes to Commander decks.
Does the deck look good? Or can you think of something else that absolutely belongs in it?

Important information: Duel Commander, so it is played 1vs1 with 20 life points. Cost limit approx. 1€ (source Scryfall)

(The insect token shown is incorrect, but the deck's website shows the correct one.)

« on: October 28, 2020, 01:38:10 pm »

[de] Deck-Bewertungen / Blackrifice: Scavenge ´em all
« on: October 25, 2020, 08:19:07 pm »

Creatures (24)

4 Carrion Feeder
4 Mortician Beetle
4 Discordant Piper
3 Doomed Dissenter
4 Sultai Emissary
3 Driver of the Dead
2 Undercity Scavenger

Instants (6)

3 Village Rites
3 Abnormal Endurance

Sorceries (7)

4 Bone Splinters
3 Ghoulcaller's Chant

Lands (23)

20 Swamp
3 Witch's Cottage
