General Magic / The immortal slime combo
« on: July 18, 2021, 06:02:05 am »
This combo is something I found on mtg arena. If the ozolith is out and you spend at least two additional with the one green mana to play ochre jelly, the jelly will increase in power. Here is how it works, spend three mana on jelly so he is a 2/2 creature, attack or block with him, his two counters go on the ozolith, and he revives as a 1/1 creature, next turn move the two counters to him to make him a 3/3, continue with fun. Some of the better cards to add to combo would be ranger class or renata. There is one weakness to the combo in that if the jelly is exiled or destroyed as a 1/1 creature, he will not revive.

Deck Reviews / Zombieland

The main idea of this deck is to overwhelm the opponent with zombies and skeletons while benefitting for tokens dying. I know it might need 2 or 3 more lands since it is sitting at 22, but I hope to playtest this first and see from there especially with the heraldic banner and the low mana cost for most of the cards.

General Magic / Shimmerdrift vale question
« on: May 23, 2021, 02:25:42 am »
Here is my question regarding shimmerdrift vale. Say you play it on the first turn and choose black. Next turn you play reflecting pool, can you use reflecting pool as any mana since vale could have produced any mana before choosing black or would reflecting pool only produce black in this scenario. I suspect it is the latter but I am not one hundred percent sure.

I am debating on switching mire triton for grimdancer. I am also wondering if massacre worm is a better pick over syr konrad.

Here is my life drain deck. I swapped out vito for marauding blight priest mainly because I was only doing 1 damage for the most part. Also most of cards either have lifelink or with heliod can gain them. I am debating on adding a third one, but am unsure of what to take out for it if anything.

Deck Reviews / Rogue Mill

This is the first mill deck I have created. The main idea of this deck is as in most mills to destroy your opponent's library, but where this one is different is the focus of rogues that gain a great deal of power depending on your opponent's grave. I did initially have the blue rogues, Merfolk Windrobber and Zulaport Duelist, but found them a bit slow and swapped in Merfolk Secretkeeper // Venture Deeper and Sweet Oblivion in for them. I also tried Syr Konrad, the Grim and Zareth San, the Trickster in place of Ashiok, Nightmare Muse, but found syr konrad a bit clunky and zareth although great after the first attack becomes meh since it does not have flying.

General Magic / Scute combo
« on: October 16, 2020, 05:00:12 pm »
Just found an interesting combo. This includes Ancient Greenwarden, Ashaya, Soul of the Wild, and the infamous Scute Swarm. If all three cards on the field, any creature triggers Scute Swarm. I was playing Arena against spark and ended up drawing because of the number of tokens that were generated. I got over two hundred in a single turn and could have gotten over 400 if I had really wanted to. Ashaya turns nontokens into lands while greenwarden doubles any effect that triggers when a land hits the field.

General Magic / City Blessing
« on: June 02, 2019, 01:04:02 am »
I am guessing but once a player obtains city blessing they won't lose it. For example say you have tendershoot dryad on the field with the required 5 lands to summon it plus 4 creatures for a grand total of 10 permanents. During your opponent's turn they kill the four creatures, but tendershoot dryad survives. When it is your turn do you get the plant token at 3/3 even though in this situation you have a total of 7 permanents. Before someone points out that the token is a 3/3 due to dryad ability, I know. I assume that you still retain the city blessing since most of the cards say for the rest of the game you have city blessing if not all.

General Magic / Enchantment Question
« on: May 30, 2019, 09:18:35 am »
I have been looking at cards that are due to be released in modern horizons, and i have two questions regarding an enchantment in particular by the name of answered prayers. I already believe that if it dies as a creature, the enchantment is destroyed so say it takes on a 5/5 dragon then it would lose unless there are other cards in play. Correct me if I am wrong please. My main question is regarding when it is in creature form. Say it becomes an angel and you summon another creature before the end turn, does its enchantment still trigger. For example, say you summon legion warboss, you gain a life and answered prayers becomes an angel with flying, and then legion warboss summons a goblin token during combat, do you gain a life for the second time as the token comes into play. I assume so since the angel ability says nothing of canceling the life gain ability. Another question I have, is in regards to it untapping after becoming an enchantment. I surmise this would be similar to the planeswalkers that become creatures and only untap during your turn regardless of no longer being a creature. Shows how interesting this card is to me, it reminds me of ajani's welcome with the added benefit of becoming a creature.

General Magic / Endless Whispers
« on: June 10, 2017, 06:08:24 am »
Alright I am running this card in my token sacrifice deck since it does great with tokens. Anyway here is my question, say you get a creature that your opponent controls using endless whispers, sacrifice it with blasting station, it hits the opponent's graveyard, who selects the opponent the creature comes back to, the last player who controlled it or the  player whose graveyard it entered? I would guess the controller but am not certain.

General Magic / Blasting Station question
« on: June 03, 2017, 09:45:11 am »
Alright here is my question. I have just switched goblin bombardment out for blasting station to make my deck modern legal and the card is a little confusing. Say I have assemble the legion in play with 5 counters on it, my upkeep comes and I summon 5 soldier tokens, can I sacrifice each soldier for blasting station since they all come into play at the same time thus causing blasting station to untap for five damage or can I only do one since they come in at the same time?

Deck Reviews / [Modern] Empty Void
« on: May 31, 2017, 10:12:19 am »
The main strategy of this deck is to either overwhelm an opponent with tokens or sacrifice the tokens to get certain effects. My essence of the wild, requiem angel and blasting station make an instant win combo as long as they are not interrupted as well as the grave pact and endless whispers. I know that I do not have many lands in this deck, but this is more for casual play than tournaments and it does have some cards such as awakening zone, aid from the cowl, and xenagos that either produce mana or allow me to play cards for free. I am looking for lands that create mana of any color that are legal for modern. If there is something better than mana confluence, please let me know. Any cards that produce tokens every turn or cards that sacrifice would be good suggestions.

General Magic / Token combo
« on: May 31, 2017, 04:52:05 am »
Alright here is how this combo works. First a player needs requiem angel in play before starting it. Then a player needs essence of the wild, a disposable creature and goblin bombardment. You sacrifice the disposable creature for goblin bombardment doing one damage to an opponent, summon spirit with requiem angel ability, change it to a copy of essence of the wild, sacrifice the copy for goblin bombardment, and rinse cycle repeat until all opponents are beat. I think that this combo would work but would require some mana since essence of the wild and requiem angel cost 6 mana each. The goblin bombardment is just a two drop. If anyone knows a flaw with this strategy, let me know. In addition this strategy would work in modern if you replace goblin bombardment with blasting station. It can also work to make infinite tokens with spawning pit and hidden stockpile.
