How about Conspiracy Theorist to go with Inti, the 'Copter, and the Fable?

Commander Discussion / Re: Combos You Really Want to See Work
« on: August 30, 2023, 02:17:30 am »
Could you please explain the Mu Yanling / Skyship Plunderer combo? I don't like to be the wet blanket, but if it's "Get Mu to enough loyalty counters and then double that number of counters every turn by connecting with the Plunderer", that doesn't work. Plunderer gives the targeted permanent one more of each kind of counter on it. So if Mu has five loyalty, she'll only get one more. If she somehow had five loyalty and a +1/+1 counter, she'd get one more of each, for six loyalty and two +1/+1 counters. (You can check the rulings under https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=559804.) Unless I've missed something, it'd take quite a devoted deck, with plenty of things like Rite of Replication and Cackling Counterpart, to get the number of Plunderers you need to put 10 loyalty on Mu every turn and go infinite (although you could use Thrummingbird or Guildpact Informant as well as Plunderer, making a it a bit more likely to pull off).

Mostly solid, but why Corrupted Crossroads? You're not running any devoid, nor a single coloured mana cost. It seems like just about any colourless land would be better (I'd suggest Bonders' Enclave off the top of my head).

How about Quicksmith Genius? He's in-colour, and should work in a similar vein to the already strong Ovalchase Daredevil + Scrapwork Mutt duo you've got.

Pingers + Deathtouch can be a pretty effective lock; since they don't attack or block so much, though, I'd use Basilisk Collar over Gorgon Flail. Also, Modern has plenty of affordable, superior Shock options, like Shivan Fire, Burst Lightning, or Firebolt.

How about Coiling Oracle and Explore? (And Simic Growth Chamber for lands)

Bring to Light is a pretty good way to get Horde of Notions or Maelstrom Archangel into play reliably, but I don't think it works so well with the Evoke elementals, since it looks only at their mana value (which in a lot of cases is greater than 5 and cannot therefore be found, even with full domain) and not any alternate costs you could play them for.
Maelstrom Nexus + Evoke is pretty good, but there are a lot of high cost elementals here and only two of the Nexus; maybe either more Nexuses or some way to search them out?

Forgive me if I'm being stupid, but what actually is the combo? You can use Sorin to cheat out Olivia, but you can't do it at instant speed, which means you can't do it in response to Emrakul's graveyard reshuffle trigger and can't therefore reanimate Emrakul. If this is true and it doesn't work, you'd need a different finisher; many high-end creatures have that shuffle effect (Blightsteel Colossus, Progenitus, the Eldrazi Titans), but you still have some options like Iona, Shield of Emeria, It That Betrays, or Void Winnower.

How about Spell Burst? It handles early game spells reasonably well and can be a lock when the Urzatron is up and running.

While the options are a bit more limited than older formats, Pioneer does still offer a few strictly better Shocks to consider, namely Wild Slash and Play with Fire. Wild Slash doesn't help too much, but Play with Fire is always going to be better than Shock. In your case, however, I'd advise Wizard's Lightning. It doesn't work quite as well with Dreadhorde Arcanist, but I think that extra damage will matter more often. If not, Play with Fire is still a better pick than Shock.
The idea seems really nice, I love the idea of stacking multiple Harmonic Prodigy and Naban, Dean of Iteration triggers to kill someone with cheap commons. Panharmonicon is a bit pricey manawise and moneywise, and might be unnecessary overkill, but it works with the general theme.
Unfortunately, because the Modern Horizons cards are Modern-(and other Eternal Formats)-only, it isn't a Pioneer legal deck, though.

Maybe sideboard Autumnal Gloom for removal-heavy opposition?

If you're using Guiding Voice, you could use Expanded Anatomy in the sideboard (a lesson that triggers Heroic as well as Magecraft). You could also go with Reduce to Memory, just in case you needed something gone so bad that it was worth giving them the spirit, or maybe to replace a creature that got hit with Pacifism. Spirit Summoning/Inkling Summoning are in colour, and technically adding them to an empty sideboard would only improve the deck, but there's probably not enough learning going on to justify so many lessons.
Apart from that, Phalanx Leader provides a good Heroic effect (it often works out a bit ahead of Leonin Lightscribe), and most creatures in this deck can be targeted by Tethmos High Priest, so they might be worth considering as well.

Crack the Earth? It works with most things Smallpox or Boom // Bust works with.

Both out of curiosity and because I need some advice for when I play with this deck, what match-ups/situations should I use the sideboard in?

Deck Comments / Re: NAYA BURN - Comments
« on: March 23, 2022, 03:01:48 am »
I know Naya Burn is an established archetype, but since in your case you've decided against the traditional Lightning Helix, it seems that you're splashing white purely for Boros Charm (and the potential +1/+1 to Wild Nacatl, But Kird Ape for example could get a similar buff without needing Plains), and while the Charm is very strong, the effects seem replaceable enough in just G/R. Even with the fetches and shock lands, I'd suggest either expanding on what white offers or removing the last vestiges of it from this deck for more reliability and less pressure on your life total.
(Also, was there some reason besides price/possession to run Scalding Tarn/Bloodstained Mire before putting in more copies of Wooded Foothills?)
