Because B L and E are all in the names of other colours and would be more confusing to use?
L and E aren't used to represent a colour in a deck title.
Even "A" (for Aqua) would be better in my opinion.

Hi, I enjoy playing Magic, reading these forums, and learning new thing about Magic.

I know black is "B", but why is blue a "U"?
I don't play competitively, and I'm curious as to why.

$3000! Do you own this because you bought most of the cards, or because you got really lucky with booster packs and trades?

General Magic / Mana Flare Alternative
« on: August 27, 2018, 02:50:45 am »
So, I recently made a deck that relied on a Mana Flare and Damping Sphere combo to stop both you and your opponent from playing anything except colourless spells.

Deck: https://deckstats.net/decks/114218/1071468-60c-r-artifact/en

But I have found out that Mana Flare does not do as I wanted it to. I thought is made lands produce 2 mana instead of 1. But what it does is let's you add another mana of the same colour.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a card that makes all lands (both yours and the opponent's) produce a second mana, so that Damping Sphere will make it then produce 1 colourless mana. What really annoys me is that the text on the Mana Flare card and the official ruling are different.

I don't believe Mana Flare is affected by Damping Sphere.  The land you tap, say an Island, would produce one blue mana and Mana Flare would add another blue mana.

Not the same as a land producing two or more mana.

No, Mana Flare says the land produces one additional mana of that type. If Mana Flare produced the additional mana it would say; When a land becomes tapped, Mana Flare produced an additional mana of the same type.
