Thank you for your responses, both :)

I'm thinking much the same thing as you're both pointing out. Most of the ramp is in green, and that will be the case in all the decks, though some will have more artifact ramp than the others.

I laid out the communal cards when preparing to finish the Dragon deck, yesterday, and I'm probably cutting Beast Within and Generous Gift from them (, though they will be in at least two of the decks) and maybe also Lotus Cobra, even if it's very good with all the fetches.
I had been planning to add a Reflecting Pool and City of Brass to the lands, and will probably cut a couple of fetches and skew the fetchable lands towards green. I will probably tweak that before testing, but I'm hoping to get my playgroup together for some EDH soon to give them a run-out.

Thanks again.

Hi, everyone. I'm hoping someone out there might have some wisdom to offer on this  :)

When Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty brought the new set of shrines, it was finally time to make the pile of shrines I already had lying around into a deck. This would be my first five colour deck and, since a decent land base is quite expensive, I got the idea to make a communal land base to use in several decks, since I had ideas for other WUBRG decks. I have a deck box with four decks sleeved up in identical sleeves, with some communal cards, and the list of those cards, in one end of the box. So far, I've only finished and played the following two:

https://deckstats.net/decks/159318/2431313-the-shrining-go-shintai-of-lif

https://deckstats.net/decks/159318/2421230-tribal-tribal-knows-no-bounds-

NB: I'm about to make a few changes to this deck.

The communal cards are (at the moment):

10 fetch lands
10 shock lands
5 triomes (considering the new "triomes")
Exotic Orchard
The World Tree
Bloom Tender
Dryad of the Ilysian Grove
Lotus Cobra
Nature's Lore
Three Visits
Farseek
Utopia Sprawl
Smothering Tithe
Rhystic Study
Heroic Intervention
(Beast Within)
(Generous Gift)

I'm currently putting the finishing touches on my The Ur-Dragon deck, as the third of the set, while The First Sliver will spearhead the fourth and last.

As the subject indicates, I'm not really looking for advice on the decks as a whole (, though I'm obviously open to interesting card suggestions and composition input, but I would prefer if you'd post that under the deck in question), what I'm mainly after is advice from people who have experience piloting WUBRG decks, on the land base.

I've not really gotten to play them that much yet and, when I have, I've been targeted early because the land base is "scary", despite the decks not being built to be super optimized. This, in combination with the land base itself costing me a chunk of life, with the fetches and shock lands, has put me somewhat on the back foot early, at least life-wise. This is obviously a meta issue, and the sample size is small, but I am considering tweaking the land base somewhat. Maybe replacing a few shocklands with the new triomes from Capenna. This will obviously be a tempo loss, though. I am planning on testing these decks more in the coming time (if I get the chance), before making any changes.

I would love to hear what thoughts you might have on this issue and, if there's anyone out there who've done a similar thing, in having a set of decks with communal cards, what experiences have you made with it?

Hi.

Have you gotten to play the deck much yet? If so, what have you learned so far?

It looks quite similar to mine: https://deckstats.net/decks/159318/2431313-the-shrining-go-shintai-of-lif

I've only gotten to play it twice, but I'm planning on tweaking it a bit and trying it again soon, hopefully. I'm thinking of changing out some protection for more instant speed interaction.

I'd had a pile of shrines waiting to become a deck when the new ones dropped, so I finally figured it was time. Since I had ideas for other WUBRG decks, I also took it as a chance try building four decks, in identical sleeves, with some communal cards - mainly since a decent land base is expensive. The only ones I've finished so far, are the Shrine deck and a Changeling Tribal tribal (https://deckstats.net/decks/159318/2421230-tribal-tribal-knows-no-bounds-). I think I've played each deck twice and each time I've been somewhat targeted because of a "scary" land base. Somewhat iffy, since the land base also costs me a bit of life early - with all the fetches and shock lands - if I play it aggressively (, which I do). The decks aren't nearly as scary as the lands might indicate, as I never really build to optimize, so I'm thinking I probably need to either downgrade the lands somewhat, tune up the rest.

Would love to hear how yours has been doing and, if you have experience piloting five color decks, if you have any thoughts on my lands predicament as well...? :)

Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

My original thought was to just load up on board wipes and protection/fog effects. The reasoning behind going with a combination of protection and some creatures, I guess, is partly that constantly wiping the board might not be the thing to do in my playgroup, and partly to have some attacking threat. Ideally I'd have more creatures like the Elder Gargaron, which can both attack and block well, but they're not that easy to come by, and they'd push up the CMC even higher. The problem now is that it's kinda in-between strategies...
The PW-generated tokens and overrun effects is problably the most likely creature threat anyway. Not having played a Superfriends deck before, makes it tricky to evaluate how reliably I'll be able to trigger the various PW abilities - particularly the ultimates - and how effectively they'll replace the spells I'd use in other decks. The enablers should ensure it happens fairly regularly, hopefully.

With regards to the PWs mentioned by @jlutzxinc: I chose not to include the two Viviens because they're so focused on creatures and would give the best payoff in creature-heavy decks. With so few creatures in my library, I don't feel they're the best fit. Lolth is absolutely a candidate, but as of now I have one, and I think I'm gonna put that in my Aristocrats deck. Maybe I'll test it here first. Also very much considering putting Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath back in.

I hope I'll get to playtest soon, I'll have a tinker with the ramp/CMC situation and let you guys know how it fares.

Thanks. I agree with a lot of what you're saying. The mana bit is what I'm most unsure of. There are currently ten ramp cards, as well as mana generating abilities on a few of the walkers. I am considering upping the number, but I might give it a go as is first. Planewide Celebration, Kamahl's Druidic Vow and Genesis Wave are among the reasons why I would love to be able to guarantee big mana, apart from the high cost planeswalkers.

The thought behind those creatures are simply to protect the planeswalkers. They produce a lot of different token creatures, but not really with reach or flying. The Thornweald Archer and the Wildborn Preserver are included as low CMC aerial blockers, mainly. Will-o-the Wisp might be a better solution. Ideally I'd have more creatures with vigilance and reach, like the Elder Gargaroth, to be able to attack and still be able to block, but I guess that'd mean higher CMC creatures. Also considered Bitterblossom, among other options. Might just go for more fog type effects...

Any wins from this deck would likely come from planeswalker ultimates or just the cumulative value generated if they are allowed to remain on the battlefield for a while. Maybe a load of tokens buffed by a Garruk, or something.

Could they BE more super?

Hi, guys.

I would love some input from any of you with experience piloting Carth decks, or other Superfriends decks. I just finished the first draft of the deck, have not gotten to playtest yet.

I'm a bit worried by the high average mana value, as well as the lack of instant speed interaction. There are cards I would like to include, like Contagion Clasp, The Elderspell, and some of the others in the Maybeboard. Found this one difficult.

Absolutely a good candidate. Ancient Greenwarden also allows me to play lands from my graveyard, in addition to being an elemental, but redundancy is always a good idea. Have been thinking about putting in Splendid Reclamation, but that's more of an explosive effect rather than giving consistency. Thanks for the suggestion, it's definitely a card I'll be considering :)

Yarok Lands Elemental Soup

Hi, guys. I'd love some input on this deck. I'm sure there are some sweet alternatives in the form of removal or other effects on permanent cards that can trigger Yarok or Panharmonicon.

The description describes a lot of the thought process and the Maybeboard holds a lot of the cards I considered for the deck.

Maskwood Nexus from Kaldheim would be great in this deck.

I hadn't really checked out much of the spoilers yet, but that's a good shout. Will definitely put that card in the deck. Not really sure how I feel about them making mono black enchantment removal, even though I know it's been teased. It does mess with the whole color identity thing, so it'll be interesting to see what this means for future releases, if it's "just one card" or if they're gonna let all colors have access to everything in time...

Hi again :)

This is what I ended up with, so far, if you're interested:

https://deckstats.net/decks/159318/1750545-bloodbank-citadel

I've only gotten to play it once, but in that game I followed up the casting of Vilis with a Reanimate targeting a Ghalta in an opponent's graveyard, so that's not a bad start. Eager to test further.

Thanks for your reply. All of those cards are on my WIP list. I always end up starting with too many cards and whittling away until I find the right balance. I'm waiting for some important cards to arrive, and then I'll see what I end up with.

I'm really looking forward to testing it, as this will be a quite different deck from my others  :)

Sounds good. I'll post my list here, when it's finished and get to play it. Exsanguinate, Gray Merchant, big flying demons and Aetherflux Reservoir will probably be my win cons, with Bolas's Citadel as a possible key card. I imagine the balance between lifegain and all the life paid for card draw and other things may require some tweaking.

Hi

I'm also building a Vilis deck, and I think it will be somewhat similar to yours. Have you gotten to playtest it much? Have you gotten any indications of MVP cards, strengths and weaknesses and so on?
