Hello,
I got a few tips for you.
Quote
OK, so my goal to start is to play small creatures on my first 3 or so turns (I should probably add more small creatures)

If you want to play small creatures in your first 3 turns you need lots of them in the deck, bigger creatures you need less because you have 6-7 extra draw steps before being able to cast them.
So find the best 1-2-3 mana cost creatures, and put from 12-22 of them in.
Some that you have that are good; Troll Ascetic, Zhur-Taa Druid, Spawnwrithe, Kalonian Tusker
Some that you might want to look into; Experiment One, Skinshifter, Sylvan Caryatid, Burning-Tree Emissary, Shaman of Forgotten Ways, Strangleroot Geist, Leatherback BalothAlpine GrizzlyBoon SatyrFanatic of Xenagos, Wolfir AvengerYasova Dragonclaw
And if you want to play bigger threats earlier, get some mana acceleration. (i.e. mana dorks or ramp spells)
A good ramp spell is farseek, especially if you play with  Burning-Tree Emissary, might be better than Ranger's Path.

Quote
Then use spells back them up.

Sure, why not. And lets count "removal" spells in there too. Pick 8-12
Some that you have that are good; Awaken the Bear, Titanic Growth, Prey Upon
Some that you might like; Ranger's Guile, basically a counter spell for green. Magma Jet. And good' ol  giant growth.
And a gem for the green decks; rancor ! Especially with Spawnwrithe and all those pump spells.

Quote
Around my 6th or 7th turn, I want to start playing bigger and more powerful spells and creatures to win the game.

Of course you do !
From 4 to 7 mana cost creatures, spells or planeswalkers, pick 5-12 of them.
Some that you have that are good; Deus of Calamity (i did not know that card before!) 5 mana for a 6/6 trample is sweet, Garruk's Horde, Xenagos, the Reveler, Nessian Wilds Ravager, Terra Stomper, Predatory Rampage (overrun is better tho)
Some other good ones; Nemesis of MortalsDeadbridge Goliath, Spellbreaker Behemoth, Wolfir Silverheart. Green has a plethora of fattys...
Thundermaw Hellkite can be a good finisher and is only 5 mana.

Quote
If you can give me more tips now that you have the strategy, that would help. Thanks!

Pick with-in those numbers and get between 35-38 cards depending on the amount of mana dorks/ramp spells, which i would get.
And when you pick your cards make sure you think of the synergy they will have together. AND RESPECT THE 60 CARDS TOTAL !
Slap 25-22 lands and play.

If you got more questions just ask and show us what you come up with

A deck i have that has a similar strategy, except for the back them up part..

Good luck

Deck Reviews / Re: [Casual] My first Deck

Well said Warden ! You are more the diplomat than I.
For the aggro vs control... i tend to advocate for the aggro type when dealing with new "casual" players.
It is, at least in the beginning, simpler, cheaper and more fun for both players, IMHO.

Ok utepaanordnes, here is what I would try to do with your cards with as few new purchases as possible.
And by the way these are just some suggestions, I don't know you or how much you are willing to learn.
I don't pretend to have the best answers or ideas, I just like to deck-build and help. ;)

1-lower mana curve.
Like Warden said " Big costing spells are fine, but you need to have cards that can be used before that. Early game is just as important as late game."  Compare your curve and mine. 15 ! 1 or 2 drops VS 4 ! with 15 you ARE part of the early game.

2-Late threats.
Nightmare and sengir vampire are you're finishers. They both fly,so if your opponent has flyers to block with, make sure you keep a removal spell in hand.

3-Theme of the deck.
Again like Warden asked "What is your deck trying to do? What is the main strategy?"
So the answer for my version is; Early threats, cheap removal of blockers like Crippling Blight and Bile Blight. (In regards to Crippling Blight, I don't care if I don't kill his creature,it can't block me and that's what I want)
Nightmare and sengir vampire and maybe Squelching Leeches are you're finishers and so is Awaken the Bear.

4-A little card advantage can't hurt.
This might be a little too much of a gamble in a deck with 7 spells of 4 mana or more...but you gotta have some fun a little right ?!
4X Pain Seer. The way I look at it, I have 13 spells that allow me to attack with Pain Seer on turn 3. Awaken the Bear ,Bile Blight ,Crippling Blight ,Mogis's Marauder.
So why not. And i have 4X Child of Night to mend the pain. ;)

5-Lands
With Nightmare and Squelching Leeches you want swamps... hence the few forest and the Evolving Wilds.
Rakshasa Deathdealer might be hard to cast on turn 2, i admit it, but hes a cool cat. 8)

Mind Rot is just a left field card that can hurt, i had 2 in the main board but felt better to add a Bile Blight.

This deck is not much more expensive than your version (if you remove the bloodsoaked champion for Tormented Hero, its the same )

So keep good hands, play smart, get to know your deck, keep the pressure on and you will win a few.

Hi,

No, you don't have a fighting chance, unless you're opponent has the same "type" of deck.
Usually speed kills, so try and build an aggressive deck. (i,e, cheap creatures and spells)
And dependability is a plus, so try and have 3-4 of the same card.

Hi,
The advice i always give is "stay out of standard"
I don't know what is your budget and what is the type of magic you want to play, but standard is just a way to make you pay a premium for your cards.
A card that is out of rotation drops in price incredibly.
For this deck right now, i would cut down on the 6-7 mana cost...and polish it a lot

To add 1 warden,1 caryatid and a land

Deck Reviews / Re: How do i make this Dromoka/Abzan deck better?
« on: June 21, 2015, 05:42:35 am »
Hi again,
Ok so i tried to keep you're theme AND make it better.
I am not an expert in standard at all but i do like to deckbuild. You did not tell us if you had a budget but i still made the deck with the cost in mind.
Most of the time its all about efficiency and dependability. Yes a card does "cool" things but you can't put them all in your deck. And a lower mana curve is favorable.
So... you probably wont win any tournaments with this, but i do think its an improvement.

A lot of cards had to go, having 23+ different cards is rarely the way to go.
I kept the bolster/outlast theme as much as i could and tried to fit in a little life gain.
I gave you a better early game with cheaper body's, and a few finishers.

Lets talk about what i kept

Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit i want 3 of her because she is all about the synergy of the deck (i.e. creature heavy and +1/+1)
Dragonlord Dromoka       i want 2 of her...her name is in the tittle... and she is one of the game changers of the deck
Abzan Falconer               3 of him. You can use him as a finisher, giving flying to most of your field is solid. Try and build a good army with +1's and slap him down.
Den Protector                 it's weird to see her with out her reptile friend but shes good anyways and with all the possible bolster she can get hard to block.
Ajani Steadfast               2 of him, he is also all about the theme of the deck. +1/+1 and life gain
Herald of Anafenza         i cut her down to 2...but maybe secure the wastes would be better...yes i think it would.

Now for the newcomers

Ajani's Pridemate              early body, synergy with life gain, gets +1/+1's
Hidden Dragonslayer        perfect fit really ! early body,lifelink,+1/+1, kills fatty's
Sungrace Pegasus            early flyer with lifelink...cast her on turn 2 after an Ajani's Pridemate  or turn 3 after Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit
High Sentinels of Arashin  a card i love and with-in this deck; easily a 5/6 threat

now for the spells

2 Ajani's Presence...         to protect your key players
2 Dromoka's Command... cuz it cant be a Dromoka deck with-out her command. You get to kill and put +1/+1
2 Honor's Reward...         on turn 3 after Ajani's Pridemate, you got a 5/5
2 Pacifism                        to freeze some threats
2 Valorous Stance           pick and choose; kill or protect.
2 Secure the Wastes      instead of the herald, you lose on the anafenza synergy but if you're able to get +1/+1's on them and then slap a falconer on the field, its a clock

Deck: Dromoka's Change

//Lands
4 Blossoming Sands
6 Forest
12 Plains
2 Windswept Heath

//Spells
2 Ajani Steadfast
2 Ajani's Presence
2 Dromoka's Command
2 Honor's Reward
2 Pacifism
2 Secure the Wastes
2 Valorous Stance

//Creatures
3 Abzan Falconer
4 Ajani's Pridemate
3 Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit
2 Den Protector
2 Dragonlord Dromoka
3 Hidden Dragonslayer
2 High Sentinels of Arashin
3 Sungrace Pegasus

//Sideboard
1 Ajani, Mentor of Heroes
1 Elspeth, Sun's Champion
1 Ajani's Presence
1 Enduring Victory
1 High Sentinels of Arashin
2 Herald of Anafenza

So i hope this helps you in your deck building.

Hello
A few questions...
Do you have a budget ?
Are there cards you REALY don't want to remove from the deck ?

Many cards should be removed from your list, to make it a bit more dependable.
