Deck Comments / Re: Grenzo's Doomsday - Comments
« on: December 06, 2021, 02:59:46 am »
I don't know your list, but I don't think a Grenzo deck is able to put enough creatures into the graveyard to make The Cauldron of Eternity easily castable.
In my opinion, Epitaph Golem is inferior to Reito Lantern. It has power 3 and if you draw it, it's 5 mana to cast. Reito Lantern can hate opponents' graveyard as well.
I don't see the advantage of Cloak and Dagger over Mad Auntie or Goblin Chieftain. It's not a creature, so if you flip it with Grenzo it's a dead card. The only upside is shroud, but in my experience people will rather kill Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker. Moreover, if you're in a more casual environment, people will likely to cast a board wipe rather than a spot removal and, even if they do the latter, Grenzo is only 2 mana. It's not a big deal to re-cast him several times.

I use to run it, it's a legit inclusion.
The problem is: it does nothing unless you've already flipped a value card with Grenzo AND you're interested in repeating the trick.
As you pointed out, it make more sense in a value-focused build, mine almost always want to go for the combo.
If you're more focused on combos with tokens and Ashnod's Altar, I'd suggest Soldevi Digger or Reito Lantern because they can go infinite, Tel-Jilad Stylus doesn't.
I wasn't aware of the trick about tucking Grenzo and bringing him back with his own ability, that's neat! I think I will re-evaluate its inclusion in the list.
Thanks for reading the primer. I'm sorry to not having completed it yet, but when Conspicuous Snoop went out I had to change a lot of things and I didn't get to a stable list yet (at least, not as stable as when I started the Primer).

Deckstats Feedback / Re: Several issues in Your Collection
« on: May 07, 2021, 04:08:10 pm »
I've checked again and now both issues disappeared (maybe they were correlated). Very thanks!
If I can suggest an improvement to the My Collection interface, when displaying a long list in several pages, alongside the buttons for prev/next page you normally have also the first/last page buttons.

Deckstats Feedback / Several issues in Your Collection
« on: May 05, 2021, 03:24:30 pm »
1. In Your Collection, if you order your cards say by set, the first page appears to be ok but if you go to the next pages the order is no longer respected (although in the UI it looks like it is so).
2. I have several cards from Rinascimento: an edition similar as Renaissance, but for Italy. Rinascimento doesn't exist in deckstats database (also, I've noticed Player Rewards doesn't exist), so I put all those cards as Renaissance and it kind of worked until some time ago. The problem is: recently all those cards have been marked as non-valid name (I guess is because the name is expected to be in French).

Commander Deck Reviews / Re: Making Infect Viable

I was suggesting those cards imagining a board of lots of little critters with infect (like Blight Mamba and Glistener Elf).
If you rely more on your commander, you should look for ways to deal combat damage multiple times, like double strike or additional combat phases. Sadly, there aren't many options for that in green...

The problem with infect is that, once you one-shot one opponent, the others tend to gang up against you.
In addition, your deck tells your opponents what strategy you're playing since the beginning, so they will gang up against you even sooner.
You normally want to play big creatures and grant them infect at instant speed (with Tainted Strike, for instance), or find some way to deal direct (infect) damage when you're not supposed to.
In particular, I see you're playing Triumph of the Hordes, which is a great infect card indeed, but works well either with big creature or a lot of them. You comply with none of these requirements, since your critters have mostly 1-2 power and 22 of them is not that much. In addition, most of your creatures already have infect, so Triumph of the Hordes is essentially a worse Overrun.
A commander that is known to sinergize well with infect creatures is Saskia the Unyielding.
She allows for more color than just green and essentially gives all your creatures double strike. Moreover, you can pick the pillowfort player and still deal damage even if you can't attack him (one recurring problem of aggro decks solved) and, once your target is dead, you could Fling Saskia to someone's face and recast her to repeat the trick.
However, if you want to stick with your strategy, I suggest you to play more cards like Craterhoof Behemoth and Finale of Devastation.

Commander Deck Reviews / Re: Sek'Kuar aristocrats: Help Needed
« on: February 02, 2021, 09:36:59 am »
As a rule of thumb, I tend to play Temple of the False God in decks where my commander's casting cost is 6 or more, because if you don't have means to get to 5 lands you should mulligan anyway.
Here, Sek'kuar costs 5, so the Temple doesn't fit in my opinion.
Yes, the deck is quite mana intensive and slow, but I'd rather lower the mana curve than play this kind of cards.
By the way, I understand there are budget/collection constraints that limit the card pool. One does what he can.  :)

Commander Discussion / Re: Feasibility of a White/Black Angel deck?
« on: December 23, 2020, 10:30:31 pm »
Liesa, Shroud of Dusk seems quite popular right now, another option (a lot cooler, in my opinion) is Selenia, Dark Angel.
Unfortunately, angels tend to be quite mana expensive and there aren't that many angel-based sinergies (in fact, I know none), so I'd suggest you not to go tribal, just put in like 4 to 5 of them as top-end finishers.
Some card suggestions:
Archangel of Thune (very strong by itself)
Karmic Guide (good value recursion)
Linvala, Keeper of Silence (solid stax piece)
Angel of Glory's Rise (mass reanimation)
Magister of Worth (not as effective as one may expect, still a pretty cool card)
Twilight Shepherd (could be interesting in a reanimator shell, especially if you take adventage of its persist ability)
If you want a reanimator deck, that's quite difficult to put together.
You need a decent amount of monsters, many ways to put them into your graveyard and the spells to reanimate them.
You equally need each of these 3 categories, or your deck will be worthless.

Deck Reviews / Re: Too many deckbuilding options with Solemnity

Solemnity comboes with Luminous Broodmoth too.
It is a decent creature by itself, it's in-color with your deck, none of your other creatures have flying...

Commander Deck Reviews / Re: Wish List Deck

It's the exact same list of Josh Lee Kwai, from the Command Zone:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kib6r2olta4
I'm not saying you can't copy your deck from another person (in fact, it's actually a good starting point), but you should at least pay credit to the author, especially when it's so evident.
I have a Shadowborn Apostle deck myself, although it's very different from this one (it plays green instead of white, for instance).
Here's the list, if you want to take a look:
https://deckstats.net/decks/54477/833450-apostolic-deck
Some advise I can give you:
Of course, I'm not saying Josh Lee Kwai's list isn't good, it's just that he built it many years ago and new (and more powerful cards) have got printed meanwhile, other have dropped in price etc.

Many cards seem a bit mana intensive to me, some of them have better alternatives too. I'd say you need much more ramp.
Some obvious inclusions:
Pawn of Ulamog
Birthing Pod
Ashnod's Altar
Nim Deathmantle
Mikaeus the Unhallowed + Triskelion
Grumgully, the Generous + creatures with persist (persist is good with Mikaeus too)
Eldritch Evolution
Buried Alive

What's your main strategy?
I see a slight aura theme. I don't recommend you to go that way.

You're missing the talismans:
Talisman of Progress
Talisman of Dominance
Talisman of Hierarchy
Also, I see at least 3 independent combos in your list.
I recommend you to cut at least one to gain more consistency.
