Deck Reviews / Re: [EDH / Commander] Need Help with Tajic, Legion's Edge

The budget is definitely a bummer.  We tried something similar and called it the "Dollar General" League.  We found that watching the cards was more of a hassle than it was worth.  $1 limit is keeping you from some great Boros Staples, but thankfully there are alternatives that fit the budget, just not as effective.  Boros is best with combat hijinks.  Might I recommend Hellkite Charger, Lightning Runner and Relentless Assault.  This way, everyone with a "when attacks" buff gets bigger still on your 2nd attack.

Ah, see there; Torbran, Thane of the Red Fell opens up a whole new realm of fun.

Things like:
Curse of Bloodletting (Targeted)
Bitter Feud (2 for 1)
Dictate of the Twin Gods (be careful with this one)
Gratuitous Violence (All for one)

And those are just my favorites....

Do you think you need land destruction? if not, Reap and Sow is a bad choice as ramp piece. You could also play Rampant Growth in stead. For Land removal I like Tectonic Edge. It's kinda cheap and the conditions usually shouldn't matter at the kitchen table.

For removal, Return to Nature and Nature's Claim would be a great start. Reclamation Sage would also be a possible option.

Depending on how many creatures you want to get out at once, Fade Away can also be very effective, especially if your opponents tend to tap out.

Ah, I see you have found my weakness...  I'm terrible at choosing removal.  I keep looking for the magic bullet.  I want all my removal to be all things in all situations, and therefore I am left wanting.  Modal cards are my favorite, so Return to Nature is a nice choice for me.  I like Reclamation Sage as well because it can be somewhat useful beyond it's ETB effect (Chump blocking, etc.).  Oh my gosh I think I have a paper Fade Away, that's an oldie but a goodie.  Thanks for keeping an eye out.

Hey;D

I like the style of this deck a lot, it seems to be going in the direction it deserves and seems to be very fun to play! Great job on that!  :) There is one thing concerning me however, that is how this will perform, moreover, how this will do amongst your playgroup. This deck, to me, looks like one closer to a medium/lower tier deck. I am not saying this is bad. I just want to know what you are anticipating on playing with this and how you expect it to perform against higher tier decks. I do think there are plenty room for upgrades, which is awesome!  ::)

Thanks for the kudos!  You pose a good question, and it's one I'm always asking.  My builds tend to lean towards flavor more than power.  Winning is fun, but winning in style is better...  ;)

I squeezed a bit more support in the form of slow ramp.  I'm bad at finding the right kinds of removal.

@Judaspriester,

You are not wrong. I went heavy into the cheat codes, just to try out it's effectiveness. Aminatou's Augury is the only cheat that will trigger Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle 's slumber counters.  I will eventually weed out some of the cheats/monsters to make more room for your suggestions.  I knew going in I needed more removal and ramp.  A little more goldfishing will let me know what cheats I like and don't like.

Arixmethes, King of Monsters

Quote
Kaiju crazy Arixmethes leads the biggest bombs of Magic. Cheats on to the battlefield and trample are the keys to getting things done.

This is a duplicate post because the color ID was wrong for some reason, and I'm trying to fix that.

I'm excited to try her out again this week.  Vampiric Link has been in the deck for some time, but I have yet to see it actually hit the field.  That's a cool way to double dip on the lifegain though.
