Because I anticipate decks trying to go wide, and I expect Humans and Werewolves to try to grow beyond the reach of Flaying Tendrils, and losing my own creatures to a field wipe is not a terrible cost. I can feed some of the dying creatures into Evo Leap, I can return the Relentless Dead (from Languish, at least), and I can crack a Hangarback for tokens. The symmetry will tend to break in my favor.

Because his first ability gets cards, which can be difficult in these colors, and his second creates flyers. I never expect to hit his ult.

Deckstats Feedback / Colorless mana improperly counted in CMC

The colorless mana symbol C is being counted as zero, rather than one, for purposes of calculating CMC. This breaks both sorting by cost and the mana curve histogram.

It's a lovely deck at Christmastime, it's just a question of whether it can be consistent year-round. =)

Lily and Hangar are obvious go-tos for the archetype, but I'm priced out of them (whereas I own the lands already).

The Carrier Thrall is actually a very strong card here. The sac-able replacement body plays very well into this deck's strategy, and as a mana source, it helps to offset all of the the taplands. The mana ability may actually be more valuable than the manifest potential on the Sultai Emissary, but that'll be seen in testing.
