this deck is in the very early stages of development. modern is one format i havent gotten into yet so i wanted to think of something fun and cheap. once i assemble the pieces and start testing it i will develop the deck better and create a sideboard against the general meta. thank you for the input.

thats a card im up in the air on. It's al ittle expensive and this deck doesnt need much color fixing. at least in myh meta i have yet to see a counter based deck in several months of playing. but thank you for the suggestion

Akroan Hoplite should be Firefist Striker.

not necessarily. firefist striker should be in the list but not as a replacement for hoplite. he actually fits the scheme very well. i run 4 of each, and no mastiffs. you should try to replace the legion loyalists with a white one drop, this will allow you to streamline your mana base more (consider soldier of the pantheon). speaking of which, from experience i can tell you that running 20 lands will stop you from hitting your four drop as often as you'd like. cut the chained to the rocks, its good but 9 mountains isnt enough to warrant it as a 4 of. generally speaking you want around half your deck to be creatures to have battalion pay off. i run 23 lands, 3 lightning strikes, four boros charms, and 30 creatures in my deck.

the lands base is good, but theres a lot of better creatures you can throw in there. your one drops are pretty good, for 2 drops consider thalia champion of thraben, daring skyjack, sunfire paladin, and lightning mauler. for 3 drops consider frontline medic and boros reckoner. take out odric, and silverblade doesnt work well with a smaller creature deck like this. for four drops look into hellrider and tajic. with 24 lands you might even get a few thundermaw hellkites. if your looking to still the game until assemble builds up, nearheath pilgrim gives great lifelink.

Better, i would just pullout one more mountain. As far as card selection, im not that familiar with older cards and i cant look over them as easily on my tablet. Ill get back to you

This has to be siad right now, these decks will fail. Nothing to do with card choices, card synergy, or anyother complicated concept but for 2 simple facts... to many cards and not enough mana.
Fact one, if you notice, all conpetitive decks except commander use exactly 60 cards. This is because you only want to use the best cards possible, and using any more, while legal, will dilute your deck
Fact two, you manabase is way to small. Only the fastest aggro decks can use under 40% lands, and your decks are not aggro
So the first thing you need to do is pick the 36 best cards for your decks and match them with the 24 most coplementig lands
