Deckstats Feedback / Re: Card Database
« on: November 09, 2019, 01:12:13 am »
I know it is mostly reprints, but SS2 (Signature Spellbook: Gideon) isn't a set code in the database.

Also, will the recent Silver Bordered Ponies the Galloping cards be added?

I'd also look at some duals, because you are currently going to loose to color-screw way too often.

This looks like it would be fun to play, my only concern is the land count seems a little low.  Maybe move some of the removal to the sideboard and add some swamps.  For a mono-deck like this I'd look at approximately 22 lands.

Vial Smasher/Thrasios

The basic plan is to play multiple spells on everyone's turn to knock them all out.

I know the mana base can be upgraded, just going with the lands I have.

Only the second deck I've built, comments welcome.

Just want to start out with how much I like the site!

Any chance there will be another update that allows for two commanders due to the new partner mechanic?

I like Valor in Akros instead of the oath. With Captain's Claws and Retreat to Emeria, you'll have the regular creature drops to pump your team.

There's also Wild Wanderer. Let you cast a 6 drop on turn 5.

Edit: Also, if you can find a way to get lands in the yard there is splendid reclamation, but that's pretty slow.

General Magic / Re: Allies or Slivers?

I prefer slivers, because they have permanent effects.  ie "All Slivers have" X, rather than ETB or tap 2 creatures for X effect.

Need a couple more cards to finish it up, and then look to tune it.

My First EDH deck, so input appreciated.

I'm not great at sideboards myself, and while I enjoy control decks, I'm not great at building them, but I'll try and help out.

Any problem with going a second color?  I'm not sure blue has all the answers you'd need.  You could add red, to the side board only, by changing your mana base to include 4 Aether Hub (the Glimmer of Genius will power it back up), and 4 Wandering Fumarole.  It stinks that it will give you 4 tap lands, but if you can cast a spell with awaken targetting one of the Fumaroles, when you pay it's activation cost it becomes a bigger beater because awaken makes it a 0/0 with counters, while the activation makes it a 1/4 or 4/1.  Red also gives you some burn to remove or go for the head, rather than just bounce in the sideboard.

Staying Mono-U, you could add a couple of Filigree Familiar for the life gain\block\draw a card, and as good targets for Elder Deep Fiend.  That's going to give you a problem with flyers if you don't have a counter\bounce pretty quick, so perhaps Pilgrim's Eye may be a better target, and it will thin your deck for you card draw.  Though you could also use the artifact creature from KLD, Dukhara Peafowl, so you can throw it in the air when you need to.

Playing such a controlling deck, you are going to need some more card draw, which is why I looked at red with Tormenting Voice or Cathartic Reunion, though black has Painful Truths, Live Fast, and Succumb To Temptation.  You could also look at adding some more filtering with Geist of the Archives, Smuggler's Copter or the U looter from EMN (forget it's name).  I know that will reduce your chances at getting a counter\bounce spell, but with the deck as it currently stands, it looks like the fast RW decks may be able to be fast enough to push through your bounce\counters, and in the control mirror, you won't have enough draw\filter to ensure you can win the counter war.

As I said, I'm not great at sideboards\control, so I could be completely off base, just my thoughts looking at the deck.

Deck Reviews / Re: BR Flash - Comments

This is super solid but you lack card draw, and especially with your amount of discard and spell cast you need it. I would suggest four copies of cathartic reunion, you can refill your hand and gain discard options.

I feel dumb for not seeing this earlier, but you are right.  Perhaps a mix of Tormenting Voice\Cathartic Reunion?  That will help with discard, though you seem to have plenty of repeatable discard for your madness cards, so perhaps look at black, with Succumb to Temptation or Live FastLive fast is nice, since it will power back up your Aether Hubs to ensure you have the right color when you need it.

Why the prophetic prism? You one have two colors so you don't need fixing, and it doesn't provide a discard outlet. You could possibly put in a card with more impact, possibly harnessed lightning, so that if you don't need your energy from the hubs, you can take out a decent sized creature.

There are enough allies that Panharmonicon would allow for some really busted plays.

First thing I'd do is firm up the mana base. Grab Foreboding Ruins and maybe a couple evolving wilds to make sure your aren't color screwed. You could add the B/R from BFZ, but with such a low curve, you might not want them since early they'll be tapped.

As for the rest of the deck, I'd look to increase your consistency. Having 2 of just about everything means you have a poor chance of getting what you need. 2-3 is probably fine for Olivia and  Kalitas, since they are legendary, but look at the cards that really play to your decks plan, like Fiery Temper, tormenting voice, etc, since you want to discard and get value from that discard.

Deck Reviews / Re: Please check out my investigate Emrakul!
« on: October 06, 2016, 05:12:13 pm »
The first thing I'd look at improving is the mana base by getting the better dual lands in there, so that sometimes they'll come into play untapped.

You on have one Emrakul, and it will reliably be 8 and occasionally 7 to cast. I'd look at changing some of the removal to choking restraints so you can remove their creature, then get that enchantment into the yard to help make casting for 7 a more reliable plan. The backup of using Briarbridge or Journal to put it in play is nice, but you'll lose the cast trigger to take their next turn.
