Go green and get ancient stirrings maybe cut the blade splicers since you have plenty of other 3 drops that should add some consistency, then some number of welding jar for some added protection for the factories maybe in sideboard. Darksteel citadel as an artifact land that is the cheapest thing that i can think of with out just going over the top with mox opal, spire of industry, and glimmervoid.

Oloro Artifacts

Oloro artifacts with a life gain sub theme, moderate power level commander deck i have not played it yet and not really sure what to put in i just kinda shoved some fodder in the deck so any suggestions would be helpful, My core gameplan revolves around pillowforting until i can get set up and combo with thopter foundry, and sword of the meek combo, with well of lost dreams and krark-clan ironworks backs up the main combo.

The chalice of the voids could be 2 Collective Brutality, and 2 Kitchen Finks. They are better general cards and also not only deal with burn, but combo as well not to mention the 4 leylines in your side board.

The 2 dark confidant i do not think you need as your average cmc is a bit high and his ability matters less to this deck since you are going all in on the Vraska plan maybe grim flayer to give you a method to dig through your deck and dump lingering souls into your graveyard maybe do something like
-2 Dark confidant
-1 Tireless tracker ( sometimes this card is just too slow, and sometimes it wins whole games)
+3 Grim flayer

i'm not sure about any of the main deck changes i was more concerned with flexibility to answer the things like stony silence, leyline of sanctity, and Chalice of the void.

U/W Control being what is is, where we have to answer Teferi, Jace, and Search for Azcanta is more what i was going for with out introduceing any matchup specific cards and then useing the sideboard for more general matchups i was thinking of topor orb main instead of cage im still thinking about that one.

Lantern with assassin's trophy, any thoughts?

This is lantern control that we all know and love XP

I removed the 4th Mishra's Bauble, the 2ed Pithing Needle, and a Pyrite Spellbomb to fit them in. The bauble was the easiest to cut,the needle got cut because we should be able to better deal with plainswalkers, and spellbomb got cut since we dont need it to deal with gideon anymore.Gideon of the trials or Gideon Jura should also not pose any threat now.

What i am haveing the most trouble doing now is nailing down the side board i narrowed down the cards that i might use like EE, Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas, but i just wanted to get someone elses opinion and see what you think.

General Magic / Re: How to properly build a collection ?
« on: September 28, 2018, 08:47:59 am »
What formats do you play since that makes a huge difference on what people are going to advise.

If you only play commander those cards don't overlap with your modern and standard players very much so their value is sometimes kinda low since people only need one, and if you only interact with magic by commander then your trade binder will only be really interesting to other commander players since they see cards differently then people who interact with the game in say only modern.

As for general collection building i would say wait until this time every year and grab all rotating cards that look cool or are powerful and rotation is hitting their price hard that can be a cheep way to build a general collection over time it really all depends on what formats you are looking to pick up tradeables for.

You don't need the last hopes to beat jund and the maelstrom pulses should give you coverage against tokens. Also against eldrazi tron you just lose to chalice of the void on 2 so there is that.

Revision 5

Added/removed cards:
-1 (Main) -1 (SB) Liliana, the Last Hope
+1 (Main) +1 (SB) Maelstrom Pulse

Changed amounts:
+1 (SB) Fulminator Mage
-1 (SB) Kitchen Finks

Sultai Midrange (assassin's Trophy) Theory crafting

Be a good G/B/U Rock deck that will fight on a more value axis then jund and abzan while effectively fighting big mana decks.

I have now played this vs tron, jund, Lantern, Scapeshift, and burn, and elves the matchups all seen fine.

i would say the jund match up is 60-40 in your favor

Tron 50-50 per board, 65-35 post board

scapeshift- they cant win or at least that is how the matchups felt

lantern- while on paper this matchup looks good that is not how it turned out at all and i would say that lantern is favored but not by unwinnable margins maybe 40-60 lantern wins most matches.

Elves either you can remove all their important lords or find a board wipe and you win or they have the nuts and you lose i would say 60-40 your favor either push or hand disruption on turn one and you should be fine.

I played about 10  games against all the above decks and have notes if you want a more detailed explanation on how the games went just let me know and i will type them out in a post would like to know everyone's opinions on this deck since i need something else to play other then lantern control TY!!!!

Tribal decks have a lot of stuff from like lords that make them that way this is more of a single card kind of deck with the intent to grind against the opponent and play cards from their deck. in order to keep up with the t1 decks you have to get off the ground as quickly as possible taking a single non-creature non land from thoes decks that they will get back is simply not worth it in this deck. Tribal decks rely on getting as many of that tribes members on the field with some lords (usually) and win through interactions inside the tribe. This is a midrange grind deck with a ton on mama sinks what is going to hold you back with this deck is mostly mana and time. You need mama to deploy threats and your opponents cards as well and time to setup and get rolling. Kitesail freebooter only fits the time aspect as he temporarily gets a card out of our opponents hand then he is a 1/2 flyer that will never trade with a rogue refiner or servant of the conduit. While dire fleet hoarder is a 2/1 that can and helps all of our mana sinks be one turn faster. Don't get me wrong kitesail freebooter is a decent card but it does not in the end help this deck any

Identity thief is also no longer in standard. also just being on theme is not good enough i'm trying to win games of magic i love theme as much as anyone else but to keep up with decks like mono red or temur energy requires you to make sacrifices. Also kitesail freebooter does not allow you to play the card you take son it is not really on theme either.

duress is there to help fight sideboard cards and control where you might need to play duress and hidden stockpile/ Anointed Procession in the same turn. Lay Bare the Heart costing one more is actually a problem.

W/B Tokens ( thoughts appreciated)

So ill post in the discussion about card choices and general stuff. All help is welcome i am looking to streamline the current token decks.

I played Esper Tokens at a PPTQ yesterday and i'm looking to streamline the deck the list i played was pretty close to the list that can be found on MTG Goldfish. After that experience i'm looking to streamline the deck to hedge vs temur and sulti energy since it appears that the meta where i play is roughly 50% Temur, 25% Sulti, 15% Token mirror(crested sunmare versions), >10% mono red, and the usual one or two random. the biggest thing that i noticed is that against energy it is important not to stumble and the later the game goes the more likely you are to win so with that in mind here is what i have decided.

Cutting blue from the deck- while i wont deny that the match ups where esper tokens runs smoothly it is very strong, there are also the games that having a third color can wreck havoc in your early game there were at least 3 games that i played that the single check lands hindered me curving out and while i liked the blue splash because champion of wits is awesome and the best reason to play blue i don't feel like they help any against temur where the only way that they beat you is with fast clock backed by negate/spell pierce for your board wipes. The Scarab god i feel encounters the problem that your opponent's have answers for Hazort in game one and since using those answers on tokens is no good they are still in hand when you play him so every time i got him on board this weekend he instantly got the boot and was taken care of before i could untap. the one game i got to use him my opponent was on the back foot and was going to lose anyway the scarab god was just a win more card at that point.

dropping sacred cat and picking up Dire Fleet Hoarder - this is an attempt to accelerate mana i will have to test this change but the 2/1 blocker with upside to accelerate into fumigate or other spells along with having the upside of assisting treasure map seems good enough against energy that i believe this to be a change that will work out the deck needs a road block that can trade with some of energy's creatures not just chump block if mono red was more of my meta i might could see playing sacred cat but it is not.

Not adding green- i believe Vraska, Relic Seeker to be too slow to effectively fight energy by the time she comes down your energy opponent has either an overwhelming board state, or you have been able to board wipe them and your grindy engine has taken over or you are dead with our without it. The mirror can be taken care of with out this card. I had it played against me over the weekend the true mirror breaker is Shefet Dunes, lost legacy, duress, and cast out.

Any suggestions on deck refinement would be welcome i know that it is a lot to read i would like to see what everyone thinks of the deck.
