Thank you! =)
All solid ramp choices, I toyed with Jhoiras familiar and Foundry Inspector a bit, but ended up deciding to lower the amount of ramp a little, so they didn't make the cut, but I'll definitely keep them on the short list as I toy with the numbers.
Inventor's Fair I have in the maybeboard, I cut it for budget reasons =P
Sequestered Stash and Goblin Welder are both great suggestions and I'd definitely consider swapping out some card draw for them.
I try and limit the amount of tutoring I put in my decks, so Godo and Goblin Engineer were the ones I went with, and I gave Gamble a miss coz it's less thematic. Red Elem blast was on my short list, but my meta don't run enough Blue for it to really shine.
Fires of Invention is incredible, but you definitely need to pick the right time to throw it down, and there have been games where it slowed me down. That being said, getting a 3 mana discount on Valduk, then playing another spell and sinking the rest of my mana on Equip costs is a beating for your opponents and really helps you recover.

Deck Reviews / [EDH/Commander] Greven, Rakdos Death Knight: How'd I do?
« on: December 04, 2019, 10:02:39 am »
Take a look at my Greven deck below!
I've toyed around with him a little, but this is my first proper attempt to make a good, decently priced deck. I appreciate any advice as, while I very much enjoy brewing, I can get a little tunnel vision.

Cheers,
Commander's Craft.

Deck: Greven, Rakdos Death Knight

The Boros Legion: Featherstorm [$150 Budget]

PLAY GUIDE
The goal with this deck is to storm off with a bunch of recursive spells (using Feather as an engine) or, failing that, just knock your opponents out with combat damage. The most important thing to remember when playing is that Feather IS NOT an aggro commander. Feather is a commander who wants to accrue value with cantrip spells and slowly chip down your opponents while drawing a TONNE of cards. Bearing that in mind, DO NOT play Feather without protection, your opponents will not waste time slamming her back into the command zone and setting you back two turns. Be smart and look after Feather, the deck is abysmal without her on board and untapping with her out will put you wayyyyy ahead of your opponents.
With all that out of the way, have fun! And enjoy showing your opponent's that the Boros Legion is no longer a force to be trifled with!

CARD NOTES
-Mirrorwing Dragon & Zada, Hedron Grinder: The multi-target effect can be a great win condition if you have enough bodies, but these cards also shine with any of your cantrip cards, as all of them will now draw you cards equal to the number of creatures you control. This gets out of hand quickly if you can set it up right so protect these creatures as highly as you're protecting Feather. (Side note: A niche interaction specific to Mirrorwing Dragon occurs when an opponent targets it with a removal spell, it will copy it and target all of THEIR creatures with it. You can end up wiping an opponent's entire board with their own spell).
-Path to Exile: If you're not using this to remove a threat, it can be a great, recursive, ramp card with Feather. Target your Spawn/Elemental/Cat Tokens for maximum value, but also works on creatures that have outlived their usefulness or who are chump blocking.
-Brought Back: Good for bringing Feather back from the graveyard, but also, in a pinch, will work as ramp with Myriad Landscape, Evolving Wilds, Terramorphic Expanse, Naya Panorama, Wayfarer's Bauble & Burnished Hart.
-Spawning Breath: Pretty simple one, target your own creatures for a recursive source of colourless mana or 0/1 bodies. Goes great with Mirrorwing Dragon or Zada, Hedron Grinder, both for multiple Spawns a turn(with the multi-target), or buffing the Spawns to turn them into threats.
-Magnetic Theft + Sunforger: Magnetic Theft is a great target to search for with Sunforger if you can spare the mana. It basically lets you use Sunforger twice a turn while Feather is on board. This combo can lead to some incredible value BUT be careful not to put yourself in a situation where you can't use Sunforger to protect Feather or your board.
-Open the Armoury: Targets are Sunforger, Sword of the Animist and Swiftfoot Boots.

MULLIGAN GUIDE
You're looking for (in order of importance):
1. A protection spell (two is nice, but the odds aren't great)
2. Two white mana sources and one red mana source (You DO NOT want to mana screw yourself out of playing Feather)
3. A cantrip spell (ideally at 1 mana. This will help you churn through your deck on the later turns)
4. Ramp (Anything to get your deck up to above 4 mana quicker).

Deck Reviews / [EDH/Commander] Hydrageddon!
« on: November 02, 2019, 02:30:06 am »
A hydra deck I've been refining over the past year. If you're interested, let me know what you think!

"Rosheen and her menagerie of Hydra friends and X-costed spells. This deck is one of my favorites and a great time for anyone who loves playing massive spells and smashing face. The Gruul way!

Game plan is quick and simple ramp up to 5 ASAP (dropping Rosheen on 4) then play Hydras turn after turn, killing your opponents with power values as high as you can muster (with a little trample and overrun in there for good measure).

You'll have access to a few cards to get your Hydras around your opponents defenses, as well as some surprisingly busted card draw (I've drawn 16 cards in one turn more than once). The removal/board wipe offering is a little on the low side, but you'll have huge creatures to fill that void."

Deck: Hydrageddon!

Deck Reviews / [EDH/Commander] Predator Captain Smackdown! [$200 Budget]
« on: October 26, 2019, 11:42:36 am »
Deck: Predator Captain Smackdown (Budget Friendly)

Rakdos aggro deck based around Greven and his ability to draw huge amounts of cards and one shot kill for maximum Rakdos fun! The game plan is simple, get Greven out (hopefully with haste), lose a bunch of life, smack someone for 21 and then gain all the lost life back.

The core of this deck is a relatively rounded: 11 board interaction/interferance cards, 4 board wipes, 9 card advantages, 10 ramp and 9 cards to protect Greven. Alongside this Greven is supported by : 8 cards that are good to sacrifice to his effect; 12 life sinks; 15 cards that influence and supplement combat; 4 cards to reanimate Greven; 7 cards that can give him haste and 11 cards that gain you life.

I've tried to roughly group cards into categories based on what they do, but the numbers are a little misleading because so many cards can pull double duty because of Greven's effect.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or questions for this deck, it is as of yet untested and will likely go through some fine-tuning in the coming months.

(P.S The sideboard contains cards I considered, but had to cut for budget/because they lost out to some of the other cards on the list).

Deck Reviews / [EDH/Commander] Faceless Menace Refined
« on: August 20, 2019, 05:55:30 am »
Deck: Faceless Menace (Precon Upgrades)

My upgrades to the "Faceless Menace" Precon from Commander 2019.
Contains 24 Morph creatures and 8 Manifest cards.

The game plan of this deck is to accumulate advantage with Kadena while protecting yourself with Morph effects and a robust suite of removal.
To finish out the game, this deck runs both Stampede effects, to buff your army of Morphs (and other creature tokens), and what I like to call the "Prophet Combo" to give yourself Flash and Untap all your lands during each end step, drowning your opponents in value.
You can also go for the Pickles lock if you run into Brine Elemental and Vesuvan Shapeshifter (or search them with Shared Summons), looping the Elemental to lock your opponents out.

Overall, I was aiming for a 7 or 8 on the power scale for play at my LGS. I'm open to recommendations to adjust it, but I'm trying not to optimize it too much. Hopefully this deck helps and inspires you to build your own =)
(P.S We've house-banned Sol Ring which is why I haven't included it. Feel free to swap it in for one of the ramp cards).
