The Rakdos version has too many if then statements in the game plan I think.

This deck seems like it wants to swing with everything, and then pop off a bunch of spells after blocks, but the 1 mana trample and first strike spells are Sorcery.  But maybe the card draw is enough to just kill through the pinging?

That was my first reaction, but I guess I see how you can just cast those spells multiple times on the same turn even, and draw draw draw...

This is my favorite deck.

I love using Krakens and spells like Whelming Wave and Slinn Voda that return everything to your hand.  You can combine this with cheap ETB creatures in your deck so you can cast them repeatedly.  :)   Very fun!!

Here's some good ones in that vein, and a few others.  Marjhan is just silly, destroying/weakening attacking creatures once you have enough mana out.

Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle
Kiora, the Crashing Wave
Kraken Hatchling
Kraken's Eye
Marjhan
Quest for Ula's Temple
Scourge of Fleets
Slinn Voda, the Rising Deep
River's Rebuke
Whelming Wave

Deck Reviews / Vampires for GP New Jersey WIP
« on: August 10, 2018, 06:18:05 pm »
Ahoy all,

I'm going to GP NJ and going to play some Standard.  This will be in Guilds of Ravnica standard, which is still a mystery, and I know that the Orzhov aren't coming out until Ravnica Allegiances.
But, with the sets we do have, please let me know how I could improve this deck.

Bishop of Binding is pretty good, and easy to side out against red for Moment of Craving.  There is tons of removal, which can even be increased after side-boarding, and I'm definitely going for a longer game with some aggro pressure instead of a full vampire attack.

I'm not sure if Arterial Flow or Sovereign's Bite is the way to go in the sideboard, or what other sideboard cards I should be considering.

Thanks.

Seriously.   Try dropping one mountain.  You only need to curve out to five, and you will have four devotion by turn three sometimes...
You also have tons of one and two drops, so if you drop a phoenix you can still probably make plays at full efficiency on turn three.

I do hereby decree that the Crimson Mage of the Sullivan Loop shall be (at least considering) dropping a mountain and a phoenix, and adding another Haven. Thereby staying at 25 lands and forming a psychically perfect spell book...  OF FIRE!!!

Why haven't you added more Haven's?  WHY?!?  I took your advice!
HAVENS!

Seriously, I might ditch a mountain for another Haven of the Spirit Dragon, or even two more.  With Nykthos, you will have no trouble getting seven mana to bring back the dragons, and you can easily do more colorless lands with a mono color deck.  What do you think?

Wanted to mix up my mass discard a little with counterspell and bigger creatures.  What do you guys think?

UB Discard

I love playing this deck, but Duress and Shrieking Affliction are rotating out come September.  What would you all recommend replacing those two cards with in the current standard format?  I know there will be tons of new Khans cards, but at the moment, what would be viable replacements?
