Hey Everyone,

I'm a really big fan of how Wizards is forshadowing the next big events in Magics storyline. Okay, the last few years were not a highlight in terms of lore and story, but War of the Spark had a nice climax and brought years of ingame-history to an end. That was cool, i would love more of that.

So what are the Praetors up to? I think it's brilliant that Wizards is spreading some of the most iconic and infamous creatures ever printed all around different planes, probably connecting their plans in future sets.

So far we've got a new Vorinclex, a new Jin-Gitaxias and a new Urabrask – all recalling to their original printings and serving some sweet symmetrical effects.

Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger // Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider
Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur // Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant
Urabrask the Hidden // Urabrask, Heretic Praetor

As some recent leaks suppose, Sheoldred will be featured in the upcoming Dominaria United. This is not confirmed yet and the leak could as well be a fake.

Sheoldred, Whispering One // Sheoldred, Insidious Conqueror (3BB, 4/5)

Ward – Discard two cards
Whenever a non-token creature you control dies, draw a card. This ability only triggers once per turn.
Whenever a non-token creature an opponent controls dies or an opponent discards a creature card, put that card from a graveyard onto the battlefield under your control. This ability only triggers once per turn

The last missing Praetor is Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. I always felt like she was the most powerful of the pack, with the most rememberable art and one of the most unique effects ever printed on a creature. According to the Wizards road map, the last set of the year will be "The Brothers War". Players will stay on the lore-filled plane of Dominaria to experience the fight between Urza and Mishra that could impact the plane and the entire multiverse.
So, long story short: What could the new Elesh Norn look like? Will she appear in The Brothers War or on a different plane? Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas. I'll go ahead with a little example:

Elesh Norn, Highest Dread (4WWW, 7/7)
Vigilance
Elesh Norn, Highest Dread enters the Battlefield with a shield counter.
Other Creatures you control get +1/+1 for each creature you control.
For each Opponent, creatures they control get -1/-1 for each creature they control.

You will have a bad time against go-wide token decks, control matchups, hexproof creatures, burn and storm

I didn't actually think of Reckoner targeting itself - this seems like a sweet Idea! Would fit into a kind of controlish w/r shell. As for what Firegriff said, I wouldn't mind killing the Reckoner if it wins me the game. If Boros Reckoner gains indestructible somehow, a ping of 1 damage would also be enough to kill the opponent, wich is nice.

General Magic / Accumulating Damage

Hey Guys!

So I was brewing with some older and newer cards and ended up experimenting with Boros Reckoner (again). I always wanted to make it's abilty kill my opponent on the spot, but besides the infamous Volcano Hellion "combo", if you want to call it like that, there really wasn't anything special to do with Reckoner.
I then stumbled upon doubling effects. Effects like Insult // Injury or Furnace of Rath that just straight away can do unbelievable things if you're attacking with an Inferno Titan for example. But here's what came to mind:

One could use Boros Reckoner as some sort of Bridge between damage spells and the opponent. Let's make up a possible scenario:
We've got both Boros Reckoner and Furnace of Rath out on the battlefield and cast a Lightning Bolt targeting Boros Reckoner. Now it's receiving 6 points of damage, passing them on to the opponent, who now takes 12. Imagine two Boros Reckoner on the battlefield, passing the damage from 6 to 12 to 24. 24 for 1 red is like a lot, but the whole setup seems a bit clunky.
Are there similar cards that could be used bridgewise to pass the damage further? Could this setup be playable in something like Modern?

Deck Reviews / Abzan Plow Tyrant (Modern)

Happy Hollidays, everyone!

I built a deck thats both kind of controlish / midrangeish and that works quite well against almost anything in my "modern" playgroup. Just give me a few thoughts or some ideas for the sideboard. Hope you like it.

I think you don't need those basic islands, since you only use them for villainous wealth - which you only intend to play with lots of mana for X, speak: mid or lategame. Axebane Guardian and Sylvan Caryatid should provide you with enough blue mana late game, whereas those islands could be dead draws early game.

You can just take every point of damage to the face until you can imprint Silence on your Isochron Scepter and hit the board with the Grand Abolisher. Your life fills up with Lightning Helix again and the Boros Charm keeps your permanents alive and shoots 4 at opponents and/or planeswalkers as well.

I am really excited about those new lands. Okay, they're no tap- pain- or manlands, but cycling seems pretty useful. What really gets my attention is, that this new land cycle features double-basics. I am pretty sure we will see something like Wild Nacatl or Kird Ape in this set.

Gitaxian Probe is not Modern legal anymore. And maybe I just don't get it, but how does this win?

Too bad, i just got into standard with Kaladesh... Well, at least exert sounds like an ability that could come back in later expansions, but embalm just feels not really like mtg and could be stupidly strong. We have to wait, i'll guess. Btw, the revolt ability wasn't great fun either.

Okay, first things first: The new split cards look terrible. I mean, we've had some split cards before, they were okay. What is this abomination of a 90 degree turn of a card?!

Furthermore: The new Embalm ability exiles the original creature from a graveyard and gives you a token with the same name/abilities/stats etc. but is a Zombie in addition to its other types. Embalm is going to be "mainly a white" activated ability.

White. Zombies.

By the way, Trueheart Duelist will be blocking the shit out of your opponent.

Hier helfen Dual-Lands, also zweifarbige Länger.
