http://deckstats.net/decks/2781/19425-deadly-snakes

A snake themed deck, seasoned with a touch of death (meant to be a pun, that card isn't in this deck).

There are no Rare or Mythic Rare cards in this deck, but I have a few too many Uncommons for it to be considered a Peasant deck.

As of right now there really isn't a win condition, I use Ambush Viper and Winged Coatl as insta-kill flash blockers and buff them up with Rancor when I need to. Disentomb and Gravepurge let me bring my pesky "kill-snakes" back to my hand/deck so that they can be used as insta-kill flash blockers multiple times.

Thornbite Staff can make this deck really silly once it's equipped to something. For example, if I have it equipped to a Blight Mamba , pay 2 to tap it and put a poison counter on my opponent and end my turn. If they go to attack me and I'm not tapped out, I can throw down an Ambush Viper to block it and they both die, causing Blight Mamba to untap. If I have 2 more mana I can tap him again to put another poison counter on them. Then it's my turn and I do the same thing again.

OR I could just keep paying 2 and tapping a creature with deathtouch to wipe out all my opponent's creatures and then swing with whatever else I have out, ideally a Blight Mamba .

Out of those 3 cards, Volt charge is the most appealing to me. I might pull 1 Lightning Bolt and 1 Blightning to add 2 of them. Thanks for the suggestion!

So I'm thinking about possibly adding Dark Ritual to help get the Corpsejacks, Hydras, and Ancients out earlier, and maybe adding Fling. Thoughts?

Doubling Season is really expensive, does anyone know of a cheaper substitute? (I mean expensive as far as money, not mana cost)

Edit: Swapped the Doubling Seasons for Asceticisms because they were really expensive (money-wise) and Asceticism will give my creatures protection from kill spells which they lacked before.

Personally I would run a few more B/U dual lands like Watery Grave, gives you some more blue mana (you could use a few more) and still counts as a Swamp for Korlash, Heir to Blackblade. Don't really see the need for Thespian's Stage or Transguild Promenade unless I'm missing something, I prefer City of Brass over Transguild Promenade anyway.

Deck Reviews / Re: First Deck - what to keep and what to trash

I'm guessing these are built from cards you currently own from a few packs you've bought. There's nothing wrong with that, that's how everyone starts out, but let me give you a few tips and advice that hopefully will help you out.

For first timers, it's good idea to have a well rounded deck. By this I mean it's not a bad idea to have approximately 20 lands, 20 creatures, and 20 non-creatures. Of course, you can give or take a few of each type of card according to mana cost and how you want the cards in your deck to combo with each other.

Play several games with your friends. How well do you like Magic: The Gathering? If you like it enough to the point where you feel dedicated to making your deck better, it's cheaper to buy individual cards online. That way, say for example, you really want this $20 card, but it's a mythic. You're more likely to spend more money purchasing packs in an attempt to pull it than if you were to  just buy the card itself for $20 online.

With that said, right now you have way to many individual cards, lots of "ones" and not enough "fours." Get an idea of how you want to build a deck, like maybe find a particular card that you really like the effect of, and build the deck around that card. Pick other cards that combo very well with that card, and try to make it so everything benefits each other. In a sense you want to "tighten" the deck. If you look at your visual spoilers you'll notice that there's a ton of cards and they're all very spread out. You'll want to scrap all the cards that are "kind of just there" and don't really combo with anything. You'll also want to add duplicates of other cards that do combo well. By doing this you'll "tighten" up the deck and make it more likely that you'll draw the combos that you want/need to win the game, while at the same time keeping the amount of cards as close to 60 as possible.

I hope this was of some help to you. If you get an idea of what kind of colors and combos you want your deck to revolve around, I'll be more than happy to help you construct it!

Here are some examples of deck's that I've built to give you an idea of how to tighten up your decks:

Deck Reviews / Corpsejack Counters (Crazy Combos)
« on: May 05, 2013, 10:06:39 pm »
http://deckstats.net/decks/2781/12482-double-or-nothing

Llanowar Elves  help ramp up my mana to play Corpsejack Menace and Forgotten Ancient before turn 4. Corpsejack Menace is self explanatory. He combos well with basically every creature in this deck.

Corpsejack Menace + Forgotten Ancient is pretty self explanatory and can be a frightening combo.

Corpsejack Menace gives Bloodhall Ooze +4/+4 at the begining of my upkeep, every turn; basically playing a really big creature for only 1 mana.

Corpsejack Menace + Primordial Hydra seems to be one of the most popular combos in Corpsejack Counter decks for good reason: it is stupid. Go ahead, play Primordial Hydra as soon as you can, even for only 3 mana to make it a 1/1. It doubles on its own every turn AND it doubles again thanks to Corpsejack Menace. That thing is gonna get really big really fast. PLUS it gains trample when it has 10 or more +1/+1 counters. What's that? My opponent used Pacifism on it? BAM, Essence Harvest. That's game.

While we're at it, let's throw out some Bioshift and bounce counters back and forth between creatures. Those counters get doubled for each Corpsejack Menace I have in play. I'm going to move these 8 counters from my Bloodhall Ooze to my Slumbering Dragon, but I also have two Corpsejacks in play, those 8 counters get doubled to 16, which then gets doubled to 32. My Slumbering Dragon just woke the hell up and is ready to ruin my opponent's day!

Have any tips or feedback for my deck? I'd love to hear it!

On second thought, I would pull the four Lifelinks and add two of each of these:

Kor Spiritdancer (Mana Cost: 1 Colorless, 1 White)
Kor Spiritdancer gets +2/+2 for each Aura attached to it.
Whenever you cast an Aura spell, you may draw a card.

Flickering Ward (Mana Cost: 1 White)
As Flickering Ward enters the battlefield, choose a color.
Enchanted creature has protection from the chosen color. This effect doesn't remove Flickering Ward.
1 White Mana: Return Flickering Ward to its owner's hand.

Just voted for Elesh Norn, she's freaking awesome lol.

Well right now your deck seems a little low on creatures and Kor Spiritdancer would be a perfect addition. Also, as of right now you don't have any cards that cost more than two mana, so adding, say, two Spheres of Safety shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Also, if you're worried about your Kor Spiritdancers being taken out easily because they don't have Hexproof, I suggest adding this card:

Privileged Position (Mana Cost: 2 Colorless, 3 G/W)
(G/W can be paid with either Green or White Mana)
Other permanents you control can't be the targets of spells or abilities your opponents control.

Essentially it gives all of your other permanents Hexproof. The card itself doesn't have Hexproof unless you have a second Privileged Position on the battlefield.

I'd suggest making space to add these cards, they'd work really well in your deck:

Kor Spiritdancer (Mana Cost: 1 Colorless, 1 White)
Kor Spiritdancer gets +2/+2 for each Aura attached to it.
Whenever you cast an Aura spell, you may draw a card.

Sphere of Safety (Mana Cost: 4 Colorless, 1 White)
Creatures can't attack you or a planeswalker you control unless their controller pays X for each of those creatures, where X is the number of enchantments you control.
