Thanks for the feedback. Many of those cards aren't modern legal, unfortunately, which is where I'm trying to keep the deck. Of those that are modern legal, there's little-to-no synergy with Elixir (slightly disappointing, but no big deal) and Rings (a bit more of an issue). Beguiler might be an interesting card to look at though, if I can get enough power onto the board.

Merieke's drawbacks aren't -as- big a deal with an elixir or rings in play - one activation means I get two creatures, and there's no way for my opponent to get them back. Only having one in play at a time isn't a drawback, though: I only ever want one in play.
