Deck Reviews / Re: [Modern] $9 Deck to Beat EVERYONE (Revised)

All that life gain would probably ruin burns day and last i check Burn is a pretty decent modern deck.

Sure but only if that burn player is attacking.. Which he won't. He'll burn those little dorks down or just burn your face without the lifegain ever triggering. This deck is poor because of it's reliant on interaction. Modern decks try their hardest to do their thing with no interaction at all.

You can probably cut 3 lands without hurting very much

Typically 4 of's any Legendary is a bad idea. Just because of the higher chance of having multiples in your hand. I'd suggest cutting one of each and now you have 2 free slots to work with

I'd probably drop Putrefax's they're just too slow, if you want trample to be your win condi just run a few copies of Rancor or something like Predator's Strike

General Magic / Re: Hexproof against cards which states "each creature"

L1 here. The wording is everything. If the card does not say Target Creature then it's damage does effect hexproof.

Funeral Charm
Vampire's Bite
Boon of Erebos

these are the first things I found upon initial search

You can take a look at my G/B Infect deck. Obviously you'd remove the Inkmoth Nexus and Verdant Catacombs lands but the rest might give you some inspiration

Subterranean Scout does not synergize in an Obelisk of Urd deck due to Obelisk pushing all Goblin's over 2 and removing the chance for them to benefit from the Scouts ability. I'm not sure what Saito was thinking when he posted this in the original shell but it does pretty terrible and has since been replaced my 4 copies of Monastery Swiftspear

You can't run Subterranean Scout in and Obelisk of Urd deck. The Obelisk gives ALL Goblins (presumably) +2/+2 which means literally none of your goblins can benefit from Subterranean Scouts ability when he enters the battlefield.

Proposed Deck name change to Bant Fog and Friends for clarity

you can get away without having Day's Undoing in this budget variant of the deck but you NEED Alhammarret's Archive this is one of the main proponents of forcing the 8-16 card mills upon upkeep. Your upkeep with 2 Monastery Siege is a 5 card draw now. The opponent is now discarding 10 to 20 potential cards in a single upkeep instead of just 6-12. Day's Undoing being gone means you'll need to accelerate the process Alhammarret's Archive is the answer to this.

Currently my Goblin deck is looking like so. I'm still testing different assortment of Goblins for speed and usefulness (most of the new stuff is REALLY slow for a red deck activating renown is a turn wasted. So that's why I have Swifty in there instead.) In any case I'm mostly looking at sideboard cards and mainboard spells. I wrote up a plan. Any recommendations on cards to play to respond to certain archetypes?

Here's my brew http://deck.tk/0sdw96EF

Deck Reviews / Re: [Standard] Blue Red Aggro Control Thopter
« on: July 19, 2015, 09:26:52 pm »
I don't think Chandra is good with your deck. You don't have enough low cost red spells to have her go off easily. You can sideboard her if you want but she seems out of place. Steam Augury also seems out of place. Not sure what your plan is with it. I'd probably sideboard a few of the counter spells for Obelisk of Urd, If you need more counters for the 2nd match (read: if Languish comes into play) then pull them out and use them. Other then that it's a solid Thopter deck. Obviously we're not addressing how to defeat other decks and much as how to stop them from wiping your board which in the long run is concerning because creating enough Thopters to win is pretty slow and a fast deck is going to eat you alive.

Look at adding Exquisite Firecraft if you can find the room it's an absolute monster. 4 damage that they can't counter easily finds itself a suitable replacement for Wild Slash. Even with the more expensive casting cost
