Thanks for the advice!
I go back and forth on the ruins. Early game it's bad, but once Chulane is out it acts as an additional piece of ramp off a creature cast. You're probably right though.
I think I agree with you on F/C. I'll add it back in. I hadn't considered extract. That's a great idea. Do you have suggestions on what to cut for the 4 cards? F/C, E/S, extract and misthallow.

Deck Reviews / cEDH Chulane help
« on: August 17, 2019, 05:08:16 pm »
Hey folks,

I'm working through a competitive build of Chulane and I need some help. I have a few versions of the deck, but this is the one I'll end up buying in paper when I'm in Vegas for magicfest. You'll notice a lack of duels. That's because I can't afford them this time around so the Mana base is not optimal, but I'm pretty happy with the "budget" version right now.
The deck uses a couple lines to win but most of it involves drawing my deck with Chulane and ending with a lab man finish or walking ballista. I had a food chain line originally, but drawing eternal scourge and misthallow Griffin felt really bad sometimes. This version is more creature heavy and looks to storm into a win con by casting creatures and controlling the board with hatebears. The enablers and win cons are in the win con section. I've been doing some play testing with proxies against food chain prosh and hermit druid tasigur and have actually been winning more often than not.
Once Chulane or another draw enabler is on the board I feel pretty unstoppable. The problem is, I am pretty inexperienced in cEDH and I'm unsure how this deck stacks up against a real tournament pod.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Here is the list:

It may be correct to run the other gearhulk main, however this deck uses less lands than a traditional control deck so gearhulk is many times uncastable on turn 6. When I ran this deck I brought it in for the slower more grindy matchups.
