Deck Reviews / [casual] Blot out the sky
« on: March 29, 2022, 07:05:44 pm »
My girlfriend fell in love with Inkling Tokens and I wanted to build a deck around them, but since cards that produce Inklings are kinda bad I tried the following:

https://deckstats.net/decks/81674/2488043-blot-out-the-scry

The Idea is pretty simple, use lots of treasure tokens to cast spells that produce more treasures without actually destroying them by using inspiring statuary. Eventually cast Blot out the sky to create tons of tokens. Am I missing an obvious upgrade or something that makes it generally more playable? Its completely casual and just a niche way to get Inklings.

24 lands is too much for your mana curve, 22 is enough. ´Gruesome Fate will never give you the value that you want. Gleaming barrier also doesnt give you that much value, because i suspect u want to be an aggressiv deck with pirates, but a wall is not very aggressiv. You also dont need the Orazca Relic. mana shouldnt be your problem, same for Traveler's Amulet.  You will find better cards than brazen Freebooter. Mby add some equipment cards (pirate's cutlass or captain's hook). They are not that rare.

what about 1-2 world shaper to get every land back? I dont think giraphur orrey will help you more than it will help the enemy.

i don't know... i would cut the artifact sub type and would go more control, like more gonti and dusk legion zealot. Deadeye tormentor is also pretty great considering your creature heavy playstyle and gives a huge advantage with pan harmonicon.
Ravenous Chupacabra  is also very good. king pin can stay, its a pretty good card, even without the scry effect.
Some blue cards give u treasures that might trigger your king pin, fix your mana and mini-"ramp" your.
But you might be onto something.

cool idea

you rly wanna put 4 drake havens in your main deck against controll or atleast more faith of the devoted ... your controll matchup is unwinnable preboard and will still give you a hard time postboard.
When i played a similar list, i liked to cut the combo completly and just play havens + Vile Manifestaion.
Just a suggestion

Dread Wanderer will most likely be in your graveyard most of the time due to the rly good card draw. You might wanna cut it.
Kite sail is a pretty good card with evasion and the possibility to deny board wipes.

I rly like the idea, but i would put Treasure Map into the list... scry to avoid drawing a creature + cheap artifact + possibly 3 treasures.
Mby you could get rid of the Trove

there are more than enough blue and red draw spells that allow you to discard... it takes ages for you to activate Gate right now.

I guess bontu's last reckoning is better than river's rebuke (to a certain degree), because they are more usefull earlier, you rly get cards in a graveyard and you dont even need the black mana you spend for the reckoning so in the lategame its not even that bad. I think i would play a 3/1 bontus/rivers.

Hey, have you tested this deck? The kind of "rampy" style is interesting, but aren't there any better pay-off cards for the mana you are creating? I get the sacing deserts theme, but i have the feeling it wont be enough to finish someone.

Just a hint: B stands for black and U for blue.

Mby change the renegade frighter with Fleetwheel Cruiser and think about adding Fling, also the toolcraft example is rly good in this kind of deck.
