I think given the wording on Arcane Adaptation I would agree, that it is not 100% clear, that this combo works. But I think the way it works is, that the tokens are created before they enter the battlefield. Since the tokens are creatures they are affected by Arcane Adaptation even before entering the battlefield, since Arcane Adaptation affects all creatures under our control. I know this is no proof that it in fact should work, but for what it's worth, the combo works in Magic Online.
