I'm Working on a modular type edh deck in five colors ( Sisay, Weatherlight Captain } 1-3 different land packs, 1-3 different Synergy packs,  1-3 different control packs.

I try and save at least one card of each I get in life,  all my decks use the same sleeves. When i go out to game night I run with 4 decks. I do have word proxies for some cards. If any one in the group has a problem with that I'll take the non proxy from a deck an move it over.  Some of these cards are crazy prices and owning more then one is sometime not a option in my life.

This is a tricky question for me. in 2018 I sold all my comic books and got into magic. Modern was hot at the time so I spent everything on nice burn deck that included 12 fetches at the time. Then come along commander. so I dump everything but 1 of each card and then I found goblins and now a proud owner of 550 of them. I started buying a draft box each month of any new set out or a older set if no new set were available. Again I kept 1 of each card I pulled the rest I traded for others I needed. So the short story is 50.00 is max and it has to be game changing for me to ever spend that much. But my average deck is around 800.00 - 1000.00  just because I own the cards not because I go out to build 1000 dollar decks. I play for fun, and I play in groups of 6-10 ppl. Must of the players have been playing for years before me and have seemlier decks.

my latest deck is a percon with 50.00 upgrade.

hmm I don't do colors, commons are in two sets creatures and everything else, lands and tokens each get a box also. The rest by rarity, type, subtype.

We have a lot of great minds here. But I can lie. I do run a few fetch in my mono and two color decks not so much as to fetch, but sometime I run in to mana flooding on mono color decks and I save my fetches to shuffle my deck and break a bad cycle.


Thanks everyone for the input. I feel better about my choices in setting up my mana.

  At what point does running fetch lands in commander really make a difference.  In mono color really I didn't see a difference, Same with two color deck. Now  I'm running a 4 color deck it has saved my butt a many of times.  Currently I'm running six fetch lands  and six shocks, one for each color combo. I also run a Chromatic Lantern for when I can't search my deck.  Felidar retreat and Evolution sage makes for a good time also.   

Any though on this.

which is better for a four-color edh deck Signets, Talismans, or both? Trying to fix my 4 color commander, and  I'm still having trouble getting my Witch-Maw Commander out before turn 4.

I do run Astral Cornucopia. Everflowing Chalice. Farseek, and Nature’s Lore but I don't think of them as my mana base but as enhancers to my mana pool due to the cost and availability of the mana when Iplay them.  same as vivid lands. To slow for my playgroup.. I tried playing 1+1 counters only and never won due to all the combo decks nowadays. so I need a very fast mana pool. Plus I'm trying to stay away from colorless mana and combos as much as I can.

Working on my mana base for Atraxa.  1+1 counters with a splash of infect, no combos.
