Revision time, baby!

Added new(er) cards which perform well so far. Removed mainly sad mana rocks you dont want to draw from midgame onwards.

WUBGR and no duals? Shame.

Hey mate!
Looking like a solid deck, though I feel like don't run enough Auras to make use of Estrid's +2 ability.
Personally, I feel like Estrid is there to create value especially by untapping enchanted lands for extra mana. I would see if there are more enchantments that ramp by enchanting lands.

Also, how did Starfield of Nyx perform for you so far? Since lands are also enchantments I really fear running into an enchantment AoE with this card on the board.

I love this!

Its a nice deck, yeah. Still needs a lot of playtesting. I didn't include mass land destruction, but I feel the deck is only half as good without it. The moment you don't have access to one or two stax elements, nobody really cares for your artifacts. Blowing up all lands however serves really well to disrupt the tables flow and change it towards your favour. I also feel like it takes a tad bit of experience with the deck to really know how to properly play it in the end. It might look simple at first, while it really isn't.

@theonedudeasam
Yeah, I was kinda reluctant uploading this list here since my local people know that I upload stuff here and I kinda want to keep my 'secret babies' off the radar :P

@nickelphoenix
Thank you so much! I love you enjoying it, the deck can be build on a budged, too, if you consider playing her yourself. The marked foils are added to the total price of the deck as well as the rather expensive mana base. You can easily swap cards like fetch lands or Tundra for more affordable cards, I feel they are not as nessecairy as they appear to be at first glance, though mana fix of any kind is also really good in this deck.

Hey mate!
Actually, this deck loots pretty solid, you clearly have a way where you want to go with it, the card choices are decent, there is nothging really I would consider dead weight or cards that don't fit the theme.

Now, in regards to deck building the real fun begins: once you start playtesting the deck, you will realise, that there may be cards that simply sit in your hand, or just perform very weak most of the time.
Those will be replaced by others that may do almost the same thing but better, or cards you want to try out to see how they perform.

From my personal experience, here are some cards that I don't really like due to me testing them in one or more decks myself or I believe are missing. Also, no worries about the copying-deck-thing, as I said I mainly build that list (which isn't finished either I believe) as reference standpoint for your first deck, as well as the thought of me wanting to build an enchatress based deck myself. So in the end I copied you, not the other way round   ;D

Missing cards:
Reclamation Sage - a 3 mana Acidic Slime
Open the Vaults - I see that you got some recursion with Sun Titan, but after a board wipe that also rips you off your enchantments, you need something that gets you back into the game.
Replenish - A better version of Open the Vaults, but vastly more expensive.
Faith's Reward - Instant speed recursion. Godly after a boardwipe.
Eternal Witness - my favourite green card. Gets back anything from your grave

Cards I don't like:
Play of the game - hurts yourself way too much. Play Austere Command instead.

That's mostly it. As I said, it looks really, really solid, and a pain to play against. So you did everything right  ;)

Deck Reviews / Re: [EDH / Commander] my first commander deck
« le: Septembre 06, 2018, 11:06:33 pm »
Hey mate!

First of, welcome to the world of EDH, in my opinion MTG's most fun format you can choose to play!
Rubinia Soulsinger is also a decent choice as your first commander due to the fact that she can work in many situations.

Just a bit of basic information since you are new to EDH:
The general can be a key component to your deck strategy. Most of the time it is either a core part or a really good supportive option for said strategy, while sometimes certain commanders are just played for their colors, what I personally don't really like doing myself.
Also, keep in mind that there is literally no end to 'pimp' or improve your deck, which makes it an even better format (while sh*t might get expensive if you dont keep attention).
Though there are a lot of cards which are considered 'bad' in most formats, and thus are cheap, while they are bonkers in EDH, but back to that point soon.

At fist glance, I really like your choice of cards, and I also think I see where you want to go with it, which would be, as you already said, to take advantage of your opponents permanents while protecting your board with enchantments and goodstuff creatures.

Let's go over some basic stuff and bant staples first: [The cards I mention should be rather cheap and/or easy to trade for unless I f*ck up somewhere]

Green is the king of ramp in MTG, and it also is in commander.
Since your current average CMC is 3.83, I would suggest playing more ramp spells. They are cheap, both on mana and your wallet, and will accelerate your gameplan by a couple of turns.
Your Cultivate is a really good choice, but I would also add cards like
Kodama's Reach
Search for Tomorrow
Farseek and
Explosive Vegetation

Also, mana dorks run wild in green, if you want to up your creature count.

White has a lot of good enchantments and really good spot removal with cards like Swords to Plowshares or Path to Exile. Both are cheap and too good to pass by.
Aura of Silence, Sigil of the empty Throne and Sphere of Safety will protect you further and/or create angels to swing with in the air - don't underestimate 10+ 4/4 angels in the board.
Cards like Luminarch Ascention should help to protect you and also serve as mana sponges, if you have for example open mana during the end of your opponents' turn.

While we talk about enchantments - Bant has access to a really good card draw engine in synergy with said enchantments.
Cards like Eidolon of Blossoms, Enchantress's Presence and Mesa Enchantress will draw you a ton of cards if not removed early. These also got reprinted in Commander 2018 if I am not mistaken, so they are cheap and easy to get.

As for Blue, we essentially talk about card draw and control.
I don't think that counterspells are something nessecairy in a casual group of EDH players, but I am sure you know your faire share of those, so I won't list them here.
There is one honorable mention, especially considering the 'steal your opponents' stuff' strategy: Desertion - I don't think I need to explain why.
Just mix and match counters if you feel like you need them, and if not more power to you.

Sower of Temptation is also one of my favourite cards in MTG all together, I can't really count how many he won just by himself.

If you play the enchantment-draw cards I listed earlier, I don't think you need much blue card draw, but cards like Treasure Cruise or Brainstorm can help to draw into cards you might need in certain situations.

Some more input on your current build:
I personally would cut Ajani Unyielding, Shalai, Voice of Plenty, Nissa, Voice of Zendikar, Garruk's Horde, Raff Capashen, Ship's Mage and Oketra the True

Those planeswalkers are just not performing well in EDH at all and need more cards to synergize with, what you can't really manage with your current game plan. The creatures above don't work that well either, since your creature count is really low and thus they won't generate value most of the time.

Merieke Ri Berit is a simply cheaper version of Rubinia, while doing the same. I'd suggest to play both, and Merieke as your commander.
Reclamation Sage is a good card.
Empress Galina is a really good card as well. (~13$ price tag)
Serra's Sanctum will be bonkers in any enchantment heavy deck (VERY expensive, ~80$ price tag, but worth every penny. Only get this in a case where you REALLY want to keep that amount of enchantments!)
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is a cheaper but more versatile version of Serra's Sanctum (~10$ price tag)

More steal:,
Control Magic, Blatant Thievery, Roil Elemental, Bribery (~20$), Thada Adel, Acquisitor, Hypnotic Siren, Cytoplast Manipulator, Dominate, Entrancing Melody

I could list some more, but I think I said enough for now.
Always feel free to message me about cards, I will help you as much as I can!

Also: EDH is a format where you can really play almost anything, never be afraif to try out cards, even if they don't seem that great at first glance. They might perform better then you could have anticipated!

@mtg47
The engine as well as the major support cards are not that expensive, the 2k price tag mainly comes from the duals and fetches. If you cut those and keep it down on cards like Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, you can easily build around 200$ to 350$.

Nessecairy are the lords in my opinion, and the zombie tribal removal cards. The rest is fairly open.

It's fairly easy in the end.
Drop land and control the board until you can cast Apex of Power to get access to Nexus of Fate for an extra turn.
Later gets shuffled back into your library, so you can simply cast a new Apex of Power to find it again.
While this won't be any sorft of infite combo, you can re-access your already used Apex'es by playing cards like Flood of Recollection - even in the turn you play Apex to begin with due to the 10 mana gain.
Chandra, Torch of Defiance (while being a win condition as well), As Foretold, Primal Amulet help accelerating this plan, and ultimately you win with burn damage from cards like Banefire and Guttersnipe.

Also: Since Doubling Season is such a great card, I would recommend running Mystical Tutor, Enlightened Tutor and Vampiric Tutor in addition to the rest of the tutors you play. It makes stuff more consistent imo
