That is a too useless card in several matches up, nevertheless, it can be good in others. The point is: storm, discard spell, and other cards can be countered and make you gain a turn. The opponents usually do not expect it. I used to play Spell Queller but it is too weak against every answer for a creature. So Render Silent is a good counter.
