Deck Reviews / Re: [Standard] Token Fun
« am: Mai 09, 2018, 02:48:47 Vormittag »
I highly recommend more reveal like Seal Away and Cast Out so you can deal with the opponents bombs. I also think a Huatli, Radiant Champion or two would do the deck some good. Of course there are other token cards like Thopter Assembly and Sram's Expertise but you seem to be on the saproling plan which is cool to see. If you consider adding these cards in, I suggest taking out 1 Shanna and some Yavimaya Sapherds. Also one last card I suggest if you run out of gas or often have no cards to play and are top decking during the game, Lifecrafter's Bestiary just put 1 or 2. It really helps keep you going in the late game. Of course all of these are only recommendations and I am not the deck creator, you are, so you make the final decision and you know what's best for the deck you created. I wish you the best of luck with it!

No problem, I love making budget decks so I know many cards that are cheap versions of others played in standard.

I assume you're trying to make a somewhat budget humans deck for casual play, based on what you have. Here are some basic deck building tips you may want to apply to this deck

- Have a goal (for winning) - Your goal might be something like trying to get humans out and win the game by attacking with them

- Try not to play to few copies of a single card, more of the same card = more consistency (side note: it's okay to play some one ofs every now and then like if it's a six drop)

- Figure out what your strategy is - this will also help you decide what cards to keep and cut

- Watch your mana curve, there are some great videos on this but in short, most creatures should cost 2 or 3, and try not to have any over 6

- Play cards that only help to achieve your decks goal - Aside from removal, cards that don't help you achieve your goal are ultimately a waste because the effect isn't contributing as much as it could

- Make sure your cards have synergy this will help you achieve your goal - in your deck for example, an easy way to do this is have a card where whenever a human enters the battlefield, (and then have an effect)

Some Cards I Recommend (these will help you have human synergy and btw they're budget so there are better options but they're expensive)
- Thalia's Lieutenant (2 more)
-Journey to Nowhere (some needed removal that is cheap in cmc)
- Everdawn Champion (Nice hard-to-remove creature that might help)
- Fiendslayer Paladin (a personal fav of mine cause he's got a lightsaber and he's not a bad creature)
- Mentor of the Meek (great for some card draw when you're low on gas and is great with Raise the Alarm)
- Raise the Alarm (great for the token route and take advantage of its instant speed for chump blocks)
- Odric, Master Tactician (another personal fav of mine I love the Odric cards but this one is fun with tokens. Only put in 2 or 3 though)
-Spare from Evil (Nice card if you want but not necessary)
- ALWAYS WATCHING I highly recommend this for your exert creatures to untap, I'd go with a plates if your strategy or goal involves exert (always a great addition if you aren't running to many tokens and if you are running tokens Glorious Anthem is fine)
- Captain of the Watch another card I highly recommend especially if you look for HUMAN SOLDIERS because there are some great ones

Find your goal and strategy by looking at certain cards like that last one and you'll have lots of fun.

I don't want to give you too many things to worry about because it's really about having fun. If you don't take any of this advice but have fun I'm okay with that. Finally, to find some more cards, I recommend going to Scryfall.com and choosing the advanced mode and entering  human in the oracle text and/or type line, click the white mana symbol, click modern in formats, and search. This will help you find some other cards you may want for your humans deck. I wish you the best of luck with this deck!

Just so you know, your commander must be a legendary creature. I love the idea for the deck, but for it to succeed you might need to play Doran, the Siege Tower. This card is strictly better, its mana cost, and ability making ALL creatures on the field assign combat damage with their toughness. This may make other decks you're facing crash with creatures that are 3/1 and 4/2. It's somewhat expensive if you're going a cheaper route, but most of the deck are just 0/4 or 1/4 and are fairly cheap.

So what cards would you recommend for a bigger impact?

Love the deck! Like some other people are saying, maybe more cheap creatures would do well since mono white wants to be somewhat fast. I recommend Champion of the Parish, Expedition Envoy, Fiendslayer Paladin, and probably the best suggestion, Thalia's Lieutenant. When putting these in the deck, put some of your spells in the sideboard. Good luck with the deck!

Deck Comments / Re: Ajani, Mentor of Heroes counter clue deck - Comments

I love this deck idea and for advice, I would suggest putting in more creatures to protect Ajani and some spells that search for key components like Ageless Entity, Felidar Sovereign, and of course, Ajani, Mentor of Heroes. If you aren't going to play playlets of these and need to get them on the battlefield, add some cheap "search for..." cards to get the combos going. Overall I think the deck needs a bit more consistency (something I am sometimes guilty of not having) to be successful and achieve your combo of life gain and +1/+1 counters. Once again I love this deck idea as well as colors and I wish the best of luck for you and this deck.
