Hello y'all,

can anybody explain reliably how/if fetchlands are counted as mana sources in the decks details section?
And what about lands like Reflection Pool that are potentially (but not necessarily) all colors?

I tried to check in one of my lists but my counting resulted in some weird numbers, that I can't explain...  :-\

Greetings and thanks for your help.

_______________________________

Edit, because im stupid...:
I would not come up with the idea to create a new deck with only the questionable cards...  ::)

Result:
- Evolving Wilds is counted as any color (the voilet one - don't know the exact english translation)
- Arid Mesa and the likes are counted towards their color pairs
- Reflecting Pool is counted towards any color

Further input is still appreciated.

You could go into phasing out as well.
There are cards like:

Guardian of Faith (also worth flickering)
Teferi's Protection
Clever Concealment

Though, it'd be a little risky in multiplayer matches since your creatures will phase in just before your own untap step.

Edit:
Also, regeneration won't prevent your creatures from dying to -X/-X shenanigans.

Yes, you can restore the indestructibility by flickering Avacyn after Hour of Devastation. But it won't prevent your creatures (at least those that die from 5 damage...) from dying.
I'll try to explain the (impossible) line you'd need:

1. Hour of Devastation is cast and goes on the stack
2. Hour of Devastation resolves, taking indestructibility from your creatures
3. you flicker Avacyn in response to restore indestructability
4. Hour of Devastation resumes resolving dealing its damage.
=> Won't work

You can't flicker Avacyn in any way to sneak indestructibility back in before your creatures die.

After using google for mtga X mac-os compatibility, I found an official announcement of WotC that mtga would be available for apple devices soon (that was mid 2020) - refering to a cooperation with Epic Games. You could try installing it with epic games launcher.

Kann ich leider nicht bestätigen. Ich kann Decks aufrufen, bearbeiten und speichern. Es sollte also zumindest kein globales Problem sein.
Vlt. mal den Browser-Cache leeren?

Fixed for me as well.

Thanks to whoever it did.  :D

Same here. Windows 10, Firefox (116.0.2 - 64bit) and Chrome won't scroll through card lists while deckbuilding.
Chrome on mobile works as usual.
Clearing cache and cookies did not help.

Could not find any other spot/place on this site where scrolling doesn't work.

Edit:
Scrolling tested with mouse wheel and keyboard page-up/down keys.

Edit 2:
I just realised that when starting a new deck the small window that asks for name and format won't show up. Maybe this correlates with the scrolling problem.

Yes, your opponent/s will lose 3 life each even if you don't attack.
The combatphase occurs every turn no matter if the player attacks or not. If not the phase starts and ends immediately but it will take place - for effects like that to be able to take place as well.

I can only speak for myself (who plays Yuriko as his pet deck since her first print) and I don't play any manarock or other acceleration.
For me Yuriko is a pure tempo deck that works quite nice on two or three lands.

Thing in the ice does not kill. It just returns creatures to their owners hands - which means you can simple recast them for a tiny blue mana.

1. Maybe it´s also stupid, but why don´t you use Fraying Sanity?

... Because I misread the card. I thought it would only trigger in your opponents turn (which would be nonsense, because you have very few ways to mill many cards at instant speed).  ::)
Since Jace is pretty expensive (both money and mana wise), you could drop him for Fraying Sanity.

2. I know this card is very strong, but are there any cheper alternatives for Visions of Beyond? 😅

Afaik there is no card that does the same. You could do something like Frantic Inventory or at least Mental Note.

Oh and you could add some Evolving Wilds as well, because they trigger your crabs twice.
Overall I think you are free to swap some of the mill spells around depending on what you like most.

If you want to mill your opponent to his loss, there really is no need to be black.
You'll just want to mill him and protect yourself until you win. For that you could even cut creatures that get bigger depending on cards in graveyards.

To keep things short: I changed your list as an example for being mono blue.
If you have any specific questions about the list, feel free to ask.
If you want to be black anyway you should focus on milling your opponent a little bit and then beating him with your big creatures. That would change the list quite a bit, though.

General Magic / Re: How to make a better magic player

In general it should be pretty hard to become good in a game, if you are not suited for it (that's what your explanation sounds like).
Becoming good in chess, without the ability to calculate several turns in advance is nearly impossible.

But to not abandon your wife with this reasoning, how about you play some 1on1 matches against her and try to pinpoint her exact problems. If it's 'only' the lack of ruling knowledge that makes her lose it really would be a question of learning / practicing.
If you feel she just don't know which cards are best to play in each situation, meaning she lacks strategic ability, you could try and build that up. Maybe EDH is a little to overwhelming regarding rules und stuff you have to consider (knowing that all to well for myself). You could try normal 60-card kitchentable decks or 2hg which should be a little easier to get into, but would help to gain experience and learn about the game itself.
If it has to be singleton decks you could go down to brawl decks (altering the rules for deckbuilding to have a larger cardpool in your group shouldn't be a problem) which aren't as escalating as EDH decks.

That would at least be what I would try in your situation. Maybe there are others here, who can give you more input about that.

Good luck, solving this issue!

Your main reanimation target of choice should be Ulamog's Crusher. Also you should add a fourth copy of Exhume, since it's your only way to reanimate stuff. Ransack the Lab is another spell you could add, since it digs three cards deep and does everything you want - filling the graveyard and finding Exhume.

Sideboard options:
- Bone Shards (mainboard for me)
- Nihil Spellbomb
- Duress
- Swirling Sandstorm (since you are filling you graveyard pretty good)

You can optimize your manabase to be more stable by using the dnd-gates (Black Dragon Gate) or thriving lands (Thriving Moor) from the first jumpstart.

I'm generally not a fan of posting my own lists, but maybe you get some more input:
