I have actually build a deck in that style around Braids, Arisen Nightmare and it is my absolute fave! While you unfortunately can't play the red cards you listed with her, she provides a really tough choice herself!

Another commander that comes to mind in that vein would be Mogis, God of Slaughter.

This is my first draft! What do you think? What swaps would you make? I really loved your ideas and wanted to work in as much as possible while also playing just generically good black spells that did not fit into any of my other decks. Very heartbroken about Choice of Damnations since it fits the theme so well but six mana to make one player in specific miserable is very hard to justify  :'(

Hey everyone!

I am looking to build the new black Braids as my next deck, because my first deck was her blue version (now switched to Jacob Hauken) and I love the character and the stained glass artwork.
Now, after being revived, she seems to have mellowed out a little, ditching the forced sacrifice of her old black version for a decision between sacrifing or losing life+making me draw a card. This idea of having to choose between two evils is exactly what I would like to build around here, so I am looking for your favorite black cards that create a tough choice for the opponent! An example for what I'm looking for, and actually the first card I have thought about for this, is Painful Quandary.
I am thankful for any tips, you are able to give me!

I know about the synergies between Dark Depths and Thespian's Stage. When I built the deck I wanted to try and see if I could crack Dark Depths reliably by just paying the mana and (since this build can generate a fuckton of mana) until now had no problems with it. But I will definetly consider it for the future, if I do think that some stronger upgrades are necessary.
I get what you're saying concerning Blizzard Strix and it seems like an odd choice but apart from snow synergies it actually exceeded my expectations. It can blink Jorn after he attacked when no attacks are viable otherwise to give you that one untap you might need and provides solid protection in a pinch. Still probably the first thing to swap out if anything stonger catches my eye though!
Staff of Domination is something I recently added and haven't gotten to playtest yet but I just found that you desperately need reliable card draw in this deck. You have so much mana at your disposal that the danger of running out of gas quickly is VERY real and mana sinks like the Staff, Zimone and Gretchen are (apart from those X-Drawspells) a really good way of preventing that. It might also help by tapping nasty blockers that would be a threat to Jorn, but we'll see.
