because of these decks i will build tibalt mono red burn and kill you t3

I feel like Gideon mono-white aggro might be a bit faster, but who knows, burn might have legs in Oathbreaker

Also whir of invention would be a lot better signature spell as its instant speed and technically cheaper with the improvised
Whir was my initial choice, but I realized that most of the artifacts add mana anyways, so it ends up being cheaper to reshape (although the sac might end up being an issue, need to do some testing on that).
And don't get me wrong, I LOVE the idea of Oathbreaker. I think there's a lot of really really fun things to do. This is just some evidence that the format needs a bit longer of a banlist if it doesn't want to be solved like Tiny Leaders.

Once the Ravnica Allegiance cards become legal, the Ixalan cards will become illegal and the deck still won't be legal in Standard.

That's.... not how rotation works. Ixalan, Rivals, Core 19, and Doninaria all rotate out together in Fall 2019.

Instead on focusing on an alternate win con, you could always just give your opponent creatures with things like Dowsing Dagger.

Michell is saying that pretty much all the most played removal in standard that can hit Azor is enchantment based (Cast Out, Ixalan's Binding, etc). Given that you're playing black, a small discard package (maybe 3x Duress and 3x Doomfall?) would help protect the absolute bomb it is.

I'm really confused on what you're trying to achieve with this deck. It's all one-ofs for cards that range from decent (Serra Angel) to absolutely terrible (Angel's Mercy, Shriekhorn), with no synergy between them. Also, playing Naya hushblade in here seems extra terrible as you have nothing to activate its ability, it being the only multicolored card in the deck. What are you trying to do with this deck?

Midnight Gond is a sweet combo for Pauper, or a dedicated combo deck in general, but this deck isn't trying to go infinite. All of the pumping and value is irrelevant if we have a million Elves.

Swords to Plowshares isn't Modern legal. Try Path to Exile.

What about Skirsdag High Priest? Seems like a lot of sacking going on and you only need one more creature after the demon comes down, he also muddies up combat

Mind Slash just isn't doing enough for me in a 4 player Commander game for it to be worth it, but Skirsdag High Priest is a definite possible inclusion. We do have a good few sac outlets, and the ability is undeniably powerful.

Have you thought about using Grave Pact or Dictate of Erebos? It will keep the board clear for attacks from your demons (or a massive army of Shadowborn Apostles).

Dictate and Grave Pact are definitely serviceable, but I think that the demons provide enough board control already. If your Commander meta has lots of tribal decks running around, they would definitely be good to slot in. As of now, I prefer to focus more on card advantage.

Also somewhat relevant: If a Gideon (or any other planeswalker) becomes a creature, it retains its legendary status. I haven't found anything super game changing regarding this except possibly getting bounced by a Karakas, but something to keep in mind for the future.

Gideon Tribal (post-Legendary Planeswalkers)

Now that we can have multiples of each Gideon, this deck seems possibly playable now.

Can you explain how it works?

Essentially, the deck is looking to survive the early game by going wide, and then either power through with a large wall of pumped tokens or sac them all to Mycoloth to make a huge threat that brings you wide once again. Leyline, Intangible Virtue, and Nissa all pump our team. Secure The Wastes (good on all points of the curve), Sprout Swarm (repeatable tokens), Voice of Resurgence (such resilient tokens), Brimaz (vigilance cats), and Hero of Bladehold (helps us go aggro) all widen us out.

Hallowed Moonlight is exactly the card I've been wanting! Hadn't seen it in other (older) lists, thanks for the info!
Hadn't really needed to use the enchantment hate yet, so I totally missed the Nahiri relevance. Guess I can just give those sideboard slots to Moonlight.
Temple isn't something I had thought about, but it now seems really viable. I'll be sure to try it out.

Thanks for all the help!
