You should be running Chain to Memory instead of Press for Answers, and Index or Sleight of Hand instead of Piece of the Puzzle. I'd add in an Inventor's Fair (just 1) as well as 2 or 3 Mishra's Bauble, for card selection and draw, even though I recognize it's a budget deck. Running an Astrolabe or two couldn't hurt either. I'd also add in a few Frogmites and a Whir of Invention, Frogmite for an early game blocker or beater, and Whir of Invention in order to find the combo more consistently (that's why I'm also suggesting artifacts). Oops, I made affinity.

$20 Deck Tech

I thought I'd make an updated version of my 80 cent combo, just for fun, and also because I'm incredibly attached to this deck idea. For some reason. It basically boils down to using a phyrexian mana fire-breathing creature with double strike to win. There's a lot of redundancy, and mainboard enchantment removal, because it's attached to a modal card, and also because I happen to like the card. It's all pauper legal, except for two cards: Kaijin of the Vanishing Touch, and Unsubstantiate. If you wanna make it pauper legal, replace Kaijin with Wall of Tears, and replace Unsubstantiate with Boomerang. If you wanna upgrade the deck to be less budget, replace the Unsubstantiate with Remand, replace the Terramorphic Expanse with Fabled Passage, aka Strictly Better Evolving Wilds. Unless you wanna make some drastic changes to the deck, that's it for upgrades.

I've been brewing a lot lately, and I haven't logged on to this account in over 2 years, so I'm bound to have learned something, right? No? Well, the least I can contribute after 2 years of being a Johnny is a list of all the effects that essentially give you mana for free. Note: this is not a Mana Net-Neutral list, so manamorphose and that new M19 card aren't in here, but I kind of prefer it that way. Without further ado, here's the list
