General Magic / Re: Counter spells
« en: Octubre 13, 2021, 07:28:40 pm »
I'll also recommend Erayo, Soratami Ascendant for prison-types of Modern decks or EDH in that manner since it's General Magic forum. Whitened Hindering Light, Render Silent, Absorb, Swift Silence  are some of my favorite counter spells. One or two Commands like Ojutai's Command and Silumgar's Command also made me impression and have place in my Draconomicon, but there and there only. I only use however Hindering Light, but I wonder on Render Silent and Absorb for the close art and probable Magic relation, should I put them in my Scria Larsonia: a Sphinx-Archon-Bird flying deck. Therefore, I don't use that many counter spells in Blue decks. I even cherish my Pheres Centaur Pagony for it has cards that recycle the graveyard and oppose the counter spell mechanic. I can only see pragmatic in my friend krgr's (Boris), who uses counter spells like Counterspell and Cryptic Command in a Counter-Burn No-Creature deck. Otherwise creature decks or planeswalker decks usually win at FNMs. Also, I admire dual-color counter spells like Ionize, Double Negative, Essence Backlash, Mindswipe and Counterflux in the Red side. Voidslime, Plasm Capture and Decisive Denial from Green. Black only has Countersquall that is good. Psychic Strike and Perplex for millers and discarders, but I don't like these strategies. Others are mostly dual cards. Enough, I pointed at many counter spells, but in brief only the dual-coloured, even Izzet Charm, are slightly better than the mere "discard a card for an opponent's card to not allow it to make an effect" technique which IMHO is the counter spell. Basically you are down with a card for a card of the opponent. Yeah, I'm mostly in Tribal budget, but there should happen something else beside this in my philosophy. Therefore the dual colors are my answer. Even "choose between" are slightly better.

I'd also recommend using Brion Stoutarm to fling the creatures you steal with Act of Treason, Traitorous Instinct and so on. Just a suggestion. I use it in the Giants Lorwyn and it's fantastic to see it, albeit it happens rarely in games. I'd also recommend Niv Mizzet Reborn in this vein, as looking at Gatherer that there aren't many options. I'm not the most expert EDH player, come to kitchen table Magic, but just the Brion Stoutarm is enough probably to win over such a combination where you steal and fling the creatures to the opponent.

Dragon Shield as well all the way as ApothecaryGeist. Only my "7★ Auras Guild Ultra Pro Box Ltd." that speaks for itself is in Ultra Pro. Why? Because, they're "disregardful box" that I play only at home. They're 7 decks and not in my "official" Tribes, but combinations of several ones, so I consider them inferior to my Dragon Shield decks. I also have to agree with Apothecary: there're at least 3 to 5 extras in 100-sleeves-box and with 2 boxes, you can cover 3 decks, with 3 boxes you can go to 6 decks, which is perfectly fine for me. So, Dragon Shield, to the end.

Off-Topic / Re: What Other Games do we Play
« en: Octubre 03, 2021, 06:11:36 am »
I play Hades' Star on computer, which can also be played on smartphone. As for other computer games, I'm mostly into Infinity Engine classics: Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, Fallout and Planescape Torment. I play occasionally on the phone but mostly MOBA: Arena of Valor, Wild Rift and Mobile Legends. As for MMORPG, I occasionally as well play Allods Online and Guild Wars 2. As for D&D, I've very rarely gathered with people, and nowadays I'm not active at all. As for other board and card games, unfortunately I am total layman and I've never pursued other gaming hobbies in CCGs or Warhammer in this sense.

Get rid of Blue, Bram, and why not make them Naya Cats? Just a suggestion. Double Fleecemane Lion, and why not put Unflinching Courage on them? Regards: Chavo

Why don't you put blue, Bram? Hostage Taker. Marauding Looter and Protean Rider also aren't bad. Storm Fleet Sprinter can't be blocked. The Deadeye Plunderers and Deadeye Brawler also aren't that bad, but they might go well with Dimir side. Admiral Beckett Brass is the sole encompassing commandeering lord. Really. Put some Blue in the Pirates, Bram. They're not that bad.

Apart from the over-budgeted additions like Elder Gargaroth and Avacyn, Angel of Hope, I also think it's solid idea, but I'd advise you to put more lands. With mana value over 6, I think you'll need at least 35 lands. But that's only me, since I play in all my EDH decks 35 lands; I rarely keep more than 8 mana value, albeit the Draconomicon version has higher mana value, still there're plenty of acceleration in my opinion in the defenders. It's my most menacing and powerful EDH deck. Great selection, I'd say about your interpretation, but I'd put more lands and I'd cut the most expensive things if it'd be mine. But it's not, it's yours, still in my opinion you can cut the cost and make it more budget-friendly and put more lands. I prefer precon decks and versions that are more in-budgeted and good-spirited. I love the big cards. Really. That's only keeping me for having them or making them. If it was depending on me to have a 4th EDH deck, I'd make/buy/get gifted with Atraxa, Praetors' Voice, but the Proliferate EHD deck is the most expensive from 2017 edition, and I doubt it'll happen until at least the end of this year. Next year, I hope, will be more fruitful and financially secured. I believe it and then I'll get it, either as present or buy it, but I don't think that with 34 Tribes, 7 mixes and 4 EDH, I'll make new Modern Tribals anytime soon. Oh, I want, I'm always brewing, but my general unexplored interests are into Lorwyn/Shadowmoor: Merfolks, Treefolks, Illusions, Elementals and Faeries, to round up the 50, so any future "moneyladen" order will go into booster boxes and fatpacks from these editions, including Eldraine, Morningtide and Eventide. Next year for sure. I'm a pass, but I'll build for sure and buy some booster boxes as I dreamed a while ago. I know they're the most expensive and rare boxes, but as stated next year'll be financially better, and I'll surely make an order cardinally around the end of this year or beginning of the next.

The English alphabet is based on the Latin alphabet, which is foundation of all Germanic and Romance languages. From all I can speak English, French, Portuguese and Dutch with the daughter language Africans. I'm not good with Italian, Spanish, German and any Scandinavian language as they're pretty similar. Bulgarian alphabet? Bulgaria invented the Cyrillic alphabet as written in Wikipedia and widely known by educated people I believe all over the world. So, all other languages that use it owe us "Language and Alphabetic Foundation". All? Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and all other former Soviet republics as Belarus and Ukraine, albeit that Belarusian language can hardly be described as a language at all, but mere Russian with some variation. I am not good however with Russian speaking itself. I can understand Mongolian "gibberish", for real, but Russian is a weak point. Also the Kazakh language is "армаган юмлурган кольнктюруан" :) and hardly to believe I can understand it as well, but I am not good with grammatical cases in Russian and I can speak modestly well, but so most educated Bulgarians, and many Russian philologists or with classes at Sofia University can speak way better than me. It's great language. А Б В Г Д Е Ж З И Й К Л М Н О П Р С Т У Ф Х Ц Ч Ш Щ Ъ ь Ю Я. That's our Alphabet. We invented it way back in 9th century. Mongolia conquered the world for it. Toktai came for it. But before that Kiev Russia came with the Varyaz, had wars with Bulgaria and exchanged and traded but took the alphabet as well. For which they're going with generational in Slavonic and Alphabetic from the Balkan Kingdom or Princedom Bulgaria. The Russians have "мяхкий знак" (ы) and Ë (ë). Their only umlaut/diaresis. Like (йо/yo). But most of their general dictionary is directly taken from Bulgarian, however the grammatical cases are killing it for me as Bulgarian language doesn't have any grammatical cases, but many educated Bulgarians can speak it very well. Enough with the lecture.

I think about Infect and such abilities as Poison and Wither, that they could be easily confused with one another in a Proliferate deck, but I don't think that most people here in Bulgaria play them on EDH table. Poison is the worst in my opinion. It kills you for sure no matter what and on FNM it was disaster for me, but at other points I have turned the tide. And I have to agree that these abilities are underpower in EDH, but they have presence in Modern.

Back to the topic: I can only want to disallow the usage of Eldrazi in FNMs. It just kills the game for me and other Tribal players. I can hardly scramble for a win at the event. Therefore, I haven't been at any event also owing to the pandemic. I am also lazy a bit and Fridays pass and go, so I hope and suppose to go at the end of the year, p'haps? My mother is in Bulgaria for several weeks and I doubt that I'll frequent in the next couple of events. Don't know. Hopefully, I'll go at the Crimson Moon days.

General Magic / Re: What is your favorite tribe in Magic?
« en: Septiembre 04, 2021, 04:41:25 am »
Archons, in my belief and view, are Knights who ride huge flying lions or tigers in "Generali" mood and outlook, which usually can be considered to be elemental cats in essence like Skycat Sovereign or Pride of the Clouds. They're not Knights that ride fleecemane lion like Ethercaste Knight, Kabira Vindicator or his "lover and protector" Citadel Castellan. Archon Knights spend great deal of time with their animals and can also relate to flying creatures like Archon of Redemption and have "detain" like Archon of the Triumvirate with the "daughter Archon riding Griffin" Lyev Skyknight. Fleecemane cats, I suspect, roam in the wild like Wild Leotau probably and can produce normal "offspring" (normal lions and tigers), but are "tamed" and have proper stables. Thus they have owners, which are Knights like the aforementioned and Rafiq of the Many, Sigiled Paladin, Knight of the White Orchid and Valiant Knight, as well, who own these fleecemane cats and ride them properly. Hope that made sense in the Magic "glossary" and mythology.

General Magic / Re: Innistrad: Midnight Hunt spoilers

Vampire Socialite and Falkenrath Pit Fighter have made me huge impression to the point that I'm willing to include them in my Falkenrath Vampire Innistradia. However, further iterations of the deck can also consider the other upcoming Vampire-centered set in Innistrad: "Crimson Vow" after 2 months ahead. Since, as stated and widely known I am Tribal player and I only look further and expect only several cards from each upcoming and ongoing Standard-to-Modern set. It's unlikely that beside those 2 cards, I will like something else, since there aren't any other covered Tribes in Innistrad except Zombies, Humans, Werewolves and Vampires.

I can't relate but I sympathize with you. My only solution and probable only relief is to get the deckbuilder/bundle toolkit and use it for 4-5 decks. I'm Modern Tribal casual player and usually when I come with new bunch of tribals, I try to find a bundle box in order to put them in. In this case even Wurms with Advent of the Wurm and the "double advent" Armada Wurm with good many tokens get their place in the bundle. There can't be space in the bundle of Tribals. I can't relate but I am sympathising and this would be my main advice and suggestion: find a bundle box. If you have 15 decks? Find 3.  ;)

Wither and Poison, perhaps as equally "acidic" equivalent?
