General Magic / Rules question, Teferi's Ageless Insight
« en: Diciembre 26, 2020, 06:36:15 pm »
How does Teferi's Ageless Insight work with Champion of Wits ETB? Would the replacement effect stop you from discarding or would it only replace the draw effect and not the rest of the ability?

General Magic / Rules question

If a creature enters and does not cause any triggers to go off, does your opponent get priority? More specifically, once my Sporemound has resolved, can they kill it before I play a land?

The +1 is broken. It will let you completely control what your opponent draws, meaning they will never get a relevant card. Being able to do this at turn 3 is way too good mabey make the card cost more or put this ability as an - ability. The +2 seems alright, a planeswalker being able to defend itself is normally pretty good. The emblem is rather underwhelming. I can easily avoid it or just cast something super small for my third spell. That combined with it being a one time effect, and hard to reach, I would rather just keep +1ing this card. Those are my thoughts anyway.

General Magic / Re: Games you've enjoyed

This just happened. Playing Narset, Enlightened Master, opponents don't matter. The battlefield was 7 lands, thousand-year storm, The Mirari Conjecture at 2 lore counters, untaped Izzet chemist. Hand was, mana geyser, mystical touter, negate. Endstep use chemist to exile Fireminds Foresight from my graveyard. My turn, untap, cast touter on my upkeep, finding brass bounty to the top of my library to draw for turn, play mana geyser with 3 copies, use that mana to cast brass bounty, (4 copies) sac the chemist to cast Foresight finding Jayas immolating inferno. At this point with all my mana and storm count, my opponents gave up. I wanted to count the damage, but they needed to leave, so we cleaned up. The game wasn't super close, but I was probably dead in the next 3 turns or so.

General Magic / Narset and Stifel

Can Narset, Enlightened Master attack trigger be Stifled? In other words, can a creature with Hexproof have their abilities be the target of something?

General Magic / Re: commander EDH storm question

Let me see what I can do.

Answer #1, assuming Thousand-year storm was cast the last turn, you would only get the original copy of Ignite Memories. If you cast Thousand-year storm this turn, you would get two copies of the Ignite Memories, the original and a copy from the original. (Thousand-year storm only counts instants and sorceries towards the storm count, unlike normal storm cards which count all cards cast including your opponents.)

Answer #2, assuming the Primal Amulet is still an artifact, it would get a charge counter from you casting the Volt charge, then the Volt charge would resolve, dealing 3 damage and proliferating the counter. Your storm count for Thousand-year storm would be at 1 because you have only cast 1 instant.

Answer #3, Your lightning bolt would deal 3 to any target, Guttersnipe would deal 2 damage to each opponent, storm count is at 1. Then using the Primal Wellspring (I think that is what Primal Amulet turns into) to cast Volt charge, Guttersnipe deals 2 damage (only 1 trigger because you only cast 1 spell, the copies aren't cast, therefore no guttersnipe trigger) copy the spell with the wellspring once and then with the storm once, (storm count is still only 1 because the copies aren't cast) dealing 9 damage and proliferating 3 times. Total damage = 16 + 3 proliferate.

I hope that is clear. If I made a mistake anywhere, please let me know, because this is how I have been playing the cards for some time now.

My first time playing cycling deck, I had so many triggers whenever I cycled, that I forgot to draw a card.

Although I am far from an expert, from what I can tell, you do not get that many copies. Since the card says, "copy for each other" it seems to be saying you will always have one less copy than the number of the spell you are casting now. Meaning you don't get a copy of the first spell you cast each turn, but you get 1 copy on the second and 2 on the third, etc. That is my understanding.

That last post didn't come out right, sorry. I am trying to figure out how the more advanced (in my opinion) options work.

It annoys me more when [...] people have earbuds in and then you have to explain to them everything that happened while they weren't paying attention.

In my opinion that defeats the entire point of playing Magic in person. I like playing against actual people, being able to talk about something that we have in common, making jokes about the game. That is the main problem I have with Magic online, you can't effectively talk to your opponent.

I don't have a problem with my opponents doing it, I have learned to tune it out. I used to flick my cards, but it would put a lot of stress on my wrist. After an FNM, my wrist would hurt so much I couldn't shuffle my deck the next day. After realizing this, I started just laying my cards face down during my opponents turn to give my hands a break and now I can play Magic for longer durations.

Yes, I have heard it called that.

I see, sorry.
I mean when a player looks through their hand by taking 1 card and "flicking" it to change its position in their hand. This makes a sound that is hard to describe. Lots of people do it to look through their hand without letting their opponent know what cards they are looking at.

You can take the question however you want it. It can be why you like flicking your cards, or what it means as a community or anything you have to say on the subject.
