Conspiracy 2: Reign of Brago announced!

So Eternal Masters in June, second set of the Innistrad block in August, and now this in August.

lol, I didn't play the first one, don't intend on this one. A secondary game that is pointless, takes your money and cards that can't be used in any other format

I played the first one once with some friends. It was ok but not anything great. You could accomplish the same thing drafting any regular booster draft. Sure it had cards for specifically for drafting but I didn't think that much of them.

The thing I liked most about it was the reprints of some older cards (Exploration, Dimir Doppleganger, & Pernicious Deed) and some new potential commanders for EDH (Grenzo & Marchesa) along with finally giving us Dack Fayden. I'll probably look to buy some singles but I don't anticipate spending money to draft it again.

Lol. Wizards is having fun with those of us paying enough attention. At first this was Conspiracy: Reign of Brago....Then they changed it to Conspiracy: The Empty Throne and made the original 221 card set 220.... Now its Conspirace: Take The Crown and it's back to a 221 card set.

Anyway. I'm excited for it. I loved the first conspiracy and plan to have loads of draft fun with this one as well.

     Just a curious question; If I'm playing modern can I use cards from conspiracy sets if they were reprinted in older blocks or are they just "no-goes" for any format outside of conspiracy?

If they were reprinted in any modern legal set you can use the conspiracy printings

Ok thanks for that. And I believe the same thing goes for commander cards as well.

Commander is an eternal format, so every card ever printed going all the way back to Alpha is legal regardless of which printing it is unless it's on the ban list.

The only exception is cards in the Unhinged and Unglued sets.

Actually this isn't true. There are a handful of exceptions to this rule. For example Ignition Team is not legal in commander and is not on the banlist.
The best option is if you're in doubt check the gatherer.

Wonder why some of the Conspiracy cards are but others aren't despite being Vintage legal.

No problem, It aggravates me that some of the cards (such as Ignition Team) aren't legal in commander. Bite of the Black Rose, Custodi Soulbinders, and Woodvine Elemental are a few others that would join that list with Ignition Team. I don't play Legacy or Vintage simply because I am relatively new to Magic and don't have thousands of dollars to spend building Legacy decks, So Commander is my way of being able to play some of the pre-8th edition cards I have aquired. It's also a great way to be able to play cards I only have one copy of and can't really fit into a 60-card deck well enough to buy 3 more.
