Well as i said, maybe a way to thin out the deck, making you draw nonland cards instead. Have not been playing magic for that long so could be wrong  :P

thinning the deck out is right, but compared to that you effectively lose a mana (comes tapped) in the round you use it and losing the mana weighs more than thinning the deck out, which is quite marginal. so get it out ;)

You could keep one or two Terramorphic Expanse to shuffle your library when you did not topdeck a black card via Vampire Nocturnus
