  If you look at B/G from Ravnica it appears that the power growth and +1/+1 counter production for sacrifice purposes. As long as you can recycle your lands and have plenty of creatures that you WANT to die (such as rottenheart ghoul if you target yourself) then you won't be at a disadvantage.

The Gitrog Monster would be a great commander if it is used right.

Same thought I had...but I already have a BG active commander as well as a retired one.
This space for rent.

The Gitrog Monster + Crawling Sensation equals a free creature every turn.

The Gitrog Monster + Crawling Sensation equals a free creature every turn.
3 mana for a negligible effect. In a deck trying to correct the downside of The Gitrog Monster, there likely isn't room for much at 3 cmc.
Perpetual Johnny. Interactions and originality are preferable to winning, though winning doesn't hurt.
If I throw statistics at you, they likely came from:

  That may be true, but having that guaranteed creature can aid in a mid-ranged deck. This especially if you're playing with cards that need sac engines such as morkrut necropod. If you want to offset the gitrog monster then the only cards that are really available at the moment (in standard at least) are the GREEN cards that recycle your lands from this block, cards from BFZ such as;

loam larva, natural connection, nissa's renewal, pulse of murasa, swell of growth, and sylvan scrying.

  There really doesn't seem like too much land recursion in this block (probably because of the emphasis on delirium) but like I said earlier, having a free creature isn't a bad thing. Get that 1/1 insect creature then play swell of growth either on your turn or your opponent's and you've got a good blocker for a turn or a nice swing. Combo that with grotesque mutation as well and you've got a (1/1) that goes (3/3) and then (6/4).
