What's a good way to ramp?
« on: November 16, 2016, 03:02:48 am »
What's a good way to ramp right now in standard? I liked my UG deck that I built for Frontier and want to try and convert some of the ideas to standard, but I'm struggling to figure out how I want to ramp. Eldrazi Scions aren't consistent enough, to me.

What are people using right now to ramp in standard?

Some cards in Battle For Zendikar like Nissa's Renewal or Attune with Aether from Kaladesh are both good for green ramp.

There's also Wild Wanderer. Let you cast a 6 drop on turn 5.

Edit: Also, if you can find a way to get lands in the yard there is splendid reclamation, but that's pretty slow.

unfortunately, ramp sort of died in Standard after Origins rotated out, but if you're playing Frontier, you could still use the big cards from Origins that made Ramp possible, namely Nissa, Vastwood Seer and Explosive Vegetation. Hedron Archive is still Standard legal, and is decent late game since it can be pitched for new cards.

When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

Thanks, everyone. Looks like it's a bit too slow for what I had in mind. Maybe Aether Revolt will bring something to the table.

Quickest ramp cards that I can find in standard are Deathcap Cultivator, Ulvenwald Captive, Call the Scions and Ruin in Their Wake.

Best case scenario:
T1 - Forest, Attune with Aether, find a Waste
T2 - Waste, Ruin in Their Wake (3 land on field)
T3 - Forest, Ulvenwald Captive x 2 (4 land, 2 mana creatures)
T4 - Forest, can tap for a total of 7 mana

Not really impressive compared to origins, but still, not too shabby
