What's the overall goal of the deck? -1/-1 counters and life drain?

I started with the Torment Cycle alone to brew ideas (that's how my decks start usually), I saw that Torment of Venom didn't have much synergy in Mono B control on its own so I added Hapatra and expanded. It's mostly control with the Torment Cycle and Trial of Ambition. Cartouche of Ambition and Nest of Scarabs go great with this, especially since Hapatra is in the deck. Tokens for blockers, and once you have control, they can be a win-con, as can Torment of Hailfire, a first copy of this could be played early for control since there are 4

Because of all the tokens that could start happening, should I switch from Phyrexian Arena to Skullclamp?

I think the skullclamp is better. it costs less and it is optional not mandatory compared to the enchantment. Also you're losing a creature you don't need rather than paying a steady amount of life.

For consistency's sake, have you tried focusing on more on the Synergy of the deck rather than the individual pieces of it? I understand your deck may have a key piece but can your deck run well and win even if you never draw it?
