Ever since I had my
Wand of Denial set (
Visions era ) I've wanted to make a competitive deck with it.
It never really worked ... until now.
If you check the cards in the deck, you'll understand why it took so long. ( Most of them weren't released until long after
Visions )
Wand of Denial is a wonderful control card imo.
At best, you'll give your opponent nothing but land to draw, at worst you'll still throw his key spells into his graveyard.
It doesn't take much explanation to figure out what a fantastic combo card this can be with
Deathrite Shaman.
Any life you lose through the wand can be gained again through the Shaman ( Creature Cards ) or inflicted upon the opponent as well ( Instants and Sorceries ).
Kaya, Ghost Assassin is the perfect Planeswalker for this deck imo.
She can remove blockers for your Flying Lifelinkers with her 0 ability.
Gain life and make your opponent lose life with her -1 ability and
give you card draw and discard options with her -2 ability.
Sorin, Lord of Innistrad fits in perfectly as well being able to generate free Lifelinkers, being able to pump them ( thus gaining more life ) and being able to kill creatures and planeswalkers.
Aerial Responder is superb because of his
Vigilance which allows him to possibly gain life on your and your opponent's turn.
Vampire Nighthawk is his back-up and
Tymna the Weaver is 2/2 Lifelinker with a
Phyrexian Arena built in.
Lone Rider is a cheap, potentially very
dangerous addition.
His transform ability can be triggered in may ways. The most efficient way imho through
Gerrard's Verdict.
So, overall :
16 creatures that can all generate life
2 ( 5 total ) planeswalkers that can generate life.
6 discard spells, 3 of which that can generate life.
6 removal spells.
3 ( 5 total ) card drawing spells.
4 control cards.
22 land.
Hope you like it too.
