2018.02.09 Standard FNM - Finished the tournament 4-0 only dropping one game. It was a very satisfying FNM.
First round was against JC and he was playing a B/W deck that kind of looked like vamps but I don't think it was. I was able to beat him because he didn't really get any lands the first game and then only got one color the second. The deck performed very well and was able to take him down quite quickly. I did have a problem with him having Profane Procession. I don't have any enchantment removal in the 75 and that might be a problem? That also is one of the weaknesses of this color combination though...
Round 2 I played against Ben and he was playing a U/W Drake Haven Cycling deck. It was kind of easy to just play cards and not give him anything. I was able to get a Liliana, Death's Majesty on the table with a The Scarab God. Those two cards compliment each other VERY well. I had not noticed that until this game and I really liked it. I easily beat him in 2 games.
Round 3 was against Nathan and he was playing a G/R Dinos list. Lots of big dudes and that's about it. I was able to beat a Carnage Tyrant by flashing in a Torrential Gearhulk and flashing back a Vraska's Contempt with a Whirler Vertuoso on board so I had enough creatures in play to block and not die. It was very close. After that he was not able to put up any more offense and I was able to finish him. During the second game he got me down to just 1 life and I was able to play a Nico Bolas, God Pharoh and then tear his hand apart. Then I +2'd Bolas and got a Galtha off the top of his deck. Too much good stuff!
Round 4 I played against Graeme. He was playing a Constrictor deck of some kind. It was a pretty good deck. I lost the first game but after that I was able to make pretty good work of him. Keeping the Constrictor off the board was very important but a lot of the time we were kind of just dueling with our Glint-Sleeve Siphoner's on the ground. It was a really good match that I was able to take for the gold.
Overall, it was a very fun tournament and I really liked the way that the deck performed. A few of the changes that I think I am going to make are:
-Removing Chandra from the deck. She doesn't really play into the theme of the deck and I really like Liliana better. I will look for more ways/things to change but right now that is about it.
