[Standard] Mono black control

Mono black control

My monoblack control deck, just try to kill off opponent’s creatures and discard threaths from their hands with duress and doomfall. Pump Dread Shade with Cabal Stronghold and kick Josu vess. Still deciding about switching up tetzimoc and torgaar, I think both will work, tetzimoc in combination with cabal Stronghold could be an effective boardwipe and torgaar would be pretty easy to cast even for the full cost..

Lurking Chupacabra just does nothing in your deck. I think you meant the other one, Ravenous Chupacabra

I  don't think you'd want 4 of either Chupacabra, you need some exile on board effects for the Gods.

Cool deck. The disruptive package seems like it could be bigger. More doomfall, fatal push, ravenous chupacabra, and vraska's contempt see, like they might have a place here. lurking chupacabra could probably be cut. I could see cutting dire fleet poisoner. The card Is good, but because you are trying to answer threats, playing straight up removal in it's place seems better.

Good luck

Hope this helps

Yeah I meant ravenous, my bad.
I was thinking of dropping to two or three of them but because cast down doesn’t destroy legendaries this fits that purpose. Vraska’s contempt or Fatal push isn’t an option (saving my money for Some karns) but I could switch 2 or 1 of my chupacabra or poisoner (I like the surprise block and kill with this one, im always glad to have this one in my hand) for 1 or two doomfalls

Also came across  urgoros, the empty one in my binder. I think it could fit into the tetzimoc/torgaar slot quite well also by either making an opponent discard or me drawing a card when it does damage to a player and thus giving me cardadvantage.

There are other, cheap Exile Effects in black in standard other than Vraska's.

Hour of Glory is probably the best option, and cheap money wise.
Final Reward is literally pennies, but higher cmc.
Settle the Score is also 4cmc and cheap, but sorcery speed.
Reaver Ambush is 3cmc and instant speed and cheap money wise, but doesn't hit the gods, which is the main reason for the exile effects.

Getting a playset of Hour of glory today. Now to decide what to cut. Consistency-wise i’d say I want to play four copies, do I cut my chupacabras or my poisoners, chupacabra leaves me with a creature to sac possibly for torgaar and this casting it for 6 but I like the instant speed of dire fleet poisoner and the cheap mana cost to do it.. Thanks a lot for all the help guys!

I've been playing around with mono black on arena for a little bit. Torment of Scarabs is infuriating if they can't remove it. Torment of Hailfire is a game ender, especially with three Cabal Stronghold.

I know you're trying to keep it more budget, but Liliana, Death's Majesty as a two-of really helps, too, since it can be a board clear if ulted, or pull a chupa back from yard for another kill (I use the second option significantly more than the first). Also, you can combine her with The Eldest Reborn to pull her (or, more likely, your opponent's Karn) from the yard on the third part. Don't underestimate The Eldest Reborn. It's actually pretty good.

Maybe cut 2 Chupacabra 2 Poisoner? They each have their uses.
