Cards that get better with more players.
« on: December 03, 2018, 05:12:38 am »
Can anyone think of cards that get better as you begin to play with more people at once?

There's the obvious ones like Curtains' Call and the other cards with undaunted, as well as the curses from C17 (Curse of Opulence, Curse of Verbosity). I recently found Compost which also works well as the number of players increases.

Extort gets bonkers with multiple opponents;
Myriad can be great too, especially with creatures with ETB triggers (or even leave-the-battlefield triggers;
Blatant Thievery;
Luminarch Ascension;
the Primordial cycle (Sylvan is banned :( )
the Tempt with cycle tends to get a little better as it increases the odds that someone will be tempted;
cards that work similar to extort, like Exsanguinate, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Kokusho, the Evening Star;
cards that require cards to be in someones graveyard early, like Deathrite Shaman;
Waste Not;
Lurking Predators.

Just off the top of my head.

Happy Multi-Player Brewing!  :)

There are very few EDH games at my LGS that have less than 5 people

So I found a bunch more cards that fit this bill. Most of them do minor stuff like gain life, or give an extra 1/1 token. Here are the really good ones.
Bane of Progress
Broodbirth Viper
Consuming Aberration
Deathreap Ritual
Ezuri's Predation
Insurrection and Mass Mutiny
Managorger Hydra
Primeval Protector
Rite of the Raging Storm
Selvala, Explorer Returned

Feast on the Fallen - must have for Marchesa, the black Rose (another card that gets better with more players, since the chance is higher, that you have an opponent with higher life than you).
You say Prison Cell, I hear 'Holiday'.

Smallpox doesn't get better. Identical effect just on more people. It doesn't even help the card disadvantage because while it removes more cards from your opponents, just casting it is a larger card disadvantage because it's versus 3 instead of one.

True. I may have gotten a little excited with that pick because it's normally worse for the decks I play it against than it is for me  ;D

Hive mind
If by "better" you mean more hilarious. This and Confusion in the Ranks.
My multiplayer deck is literally just built around those two  cards XD.
