Is purphoros, God of the forge the only one you play in 1v1?

I would think hope of ghirapur is better for that, either as control or voltron because both of those strategies work best against 1 opponent while purpohros does pretty well against everyone.

Oh you see,  I didn't realize you said skullbriar is 14-0 in 1v1. I mismatched that data with the purphoros line because eye r dumb.

It's a neat exercise. Gives you an idea of which decks may need improvement or which decks you have that are targeted off the bat for one reason or another.

Notable Changes

• Mishra is now inactive. The deck is very self-detrimental, so that was only fun a handful of times. Vaevictis is likely the next one to go, for the same reason.
• Edric has been doing crazy good. I've mostly been using Edric in 6-player games (3 teams of 2 people) where it excels at working with a partner. In the free-for-all games (3 to 5 players) he still performs really well, even when facing off against decks like Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, Brago, King Eternal, Urza, Lord High Artificer, General Tazri, and Prime Speaker Vannifar.

Names of people and locations have been censored. I also note when someone borrows one of my decks, but I don't record their victory/loss as part of that deck's stats; it's only when I play the deck that it counts. The "Win" and "Base Chance" columns are for the stats. A separate page organizes the wins/losses nicely for me.



Excel will do most of the math automatically, which makes things very convenient.

Didn't get in as many games this month as I would have liked due to some things going on IRL. Had I realized I was at 199 games played so far for the year, I would have played one more today to make it an even 200. Animar's win % this month jumped quite a bit as I've retooled the deck to a more competitive build.

Big changes in August.

First off, Captain Sisay has been retired. The Paradox Engine ban hit her hard. She still wins games, it just takes longer. A lot longer. She just wasn't fun anymore.

Second, got two new decks. Brudiclad is my new low-power deck. There are a lot of good cards in it, but it is still a weak deck. Mostly just because Brudiclad is overcosted. He should not be 6 mana. My other deck is Atla Palani, Nest Tender, which I have begun to call "Scrambled Eggs". It's a combo deck that revolves around Mirror Entity. First, I somehow give Atla a buff (like from Mutegenic Growth), then I activate Mirror Entity's ability for X=0, about 10 000 times. All my creatures become all creatures types with 0/0, and promptly die (except Atla, she has the buff). Because they died as eggs, I reveal until I hit another creature, which will also die when the next instance of Mirror Entity's ability resolves. Eventually, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth or Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre will die this way, causing my graveyard to get shuffled back in, resetting the loop. Then I have Ghitu Slinger added to the mix as an outlet.

It's a strong combo deck.

Third change: There is another deck called "Petitioners". This is just my Scarab God deck, with all of the creatures replaced with Persistent Petitioners. The deck is now completely reliant on my opponents having good creatures, because I just have petitioners.

Animar continues to improve greatly with the more competitive style build. Skullbriar continues to bully the LGS in 1v1 games. Likely retiring Karador & HOG to use the pieces for other new decks. Grand Arbiter may be retired as well, just don't enjoy playing Stax as much as I use to.

Holy crap dudes the record keeping involved here is intense. Props to you guys for keeping up with it. Never something I'd considered doing but might start after seeing this.

I have a few questions for you all though:

How often do you guys play per week and / or per month?
How much is "proper" commander (as in 4 player free for all) and how much is a variant (i.e. less than 4 players, attacking left, whatever)?
How competitive is your meta? And do you guys have any house rules / bans / budget restrictions for your games that might skew your results (no sol ring, no rift for example)?

I like the idea of keeping up with stats, but I mostly play pretty casually with some buddies (where I live has a bit of an issue with Local Game Stores so we're mostly kitchen table). Our playgroup has about 6 guys in it but times where we can all get together is probably less than half (some of them work nights, one guy just moved to a different city etc.). We end up playing a not insignificant amount of 1v1 or 1v1v1 so my stats would probably wouldn't be all that reflective of "true" commander.

I mean, I could log the stats separately for all the 4 player games I guess.

Just wondering what other peoples play environments are like. Don't feel obliged to answer or share anything you're not cool with or anything like that.
