So the most obvious question to me is why are you running a legendary like Mishra in a highlander deck with only one of artifacts?

Because with Mishra out, if he casts an artifact and it gets countered, he can put it into play for free if Mishra is out.  He also has Possibility Storm which makes it so that if he plays any artifact, he gets to put one into play because of PS but if Mishra is out, he gets to put into play the one he originally casted as well.  Read. The.  Card.

Explain how Mishra being out would cancel counters? Mishra states you can search their hand, graveyard, or library for a card with the same name, but at the moment the card being cast is on the stack and can't be targeted by Mishra's ability. Even if the spell is countered, Mishra can't change the target of his ability after the counter has resolved.

If Mishra is out, after they counter the artifact, you get to look into your graveyard for an artifact with the same name and put it into play.  You play an artifact, it gets countered; you casted an artifact so Mishra triggers, letting you look into your graveyard for an artifact with the same name - the artifact that just got countered - you put it into play.

If you have Possibility Storm out, following the same principle, you play an artifact, Possibility Storm triggers and you put into play an artifact, then Mishra trigger will resolve and you put the artifact you originally casted into play - a 1 for 2.

In play: Mishra, Artificer Prodigy and any counter spell effect, lets say Nullstone Gargoyle or Planar Chaos
In hand: Sol Ring

Step 1: Cast Sol Ring
Step 2: Stack Mishra's trigger first, then the triggered counter spell effect on top.
Step 3: Resolve the counter spell, countering Sol Ring, placing it in grave.
Step 4: Resolve Mishra's trigger, search your grave for a copy of Sol Ring, put it into play for free.

Ah, I see what you are saying, but what is there to stop somebody from waiting for Mishra's ability to resolve and then counter the spell once Mishra's ability is no longer on the stack?

Nothing. If you just have Mishra out, they can wait for the trigger to pass before countering the spell.

Because Mishra's ability puts the artifact into play not cast, which means it can't be countered.  That doesn't stop someone from blowing it up when it gets put into play though.

Lets come up with a scenario.

You have Mishra on the field and cast Grim Monolith
Mishra's ability activates, and you search your library, hand, and graveyard for another card named Grim Monolith
You find nothing because the Grim Monolith you are casting is not in you hand, library, or graveyard
Mishra's ability resolves
Grim Monolith awaits resolution
I cast Negate
Negate resolves, countering Grim Monolith
Grim Monolith goes to the graveyard due to Negate

Mishra's ability can't prevent countering if the player knows what they're doing.
