Salt Flats are not Modern legal and a worse version of Caves of Koilos.
Also Nyxathid still gets -1/-1 for each card in you opponent's hand because its abilty it's not triggered, so having a Torpor Orb effect in the battefield does nothing, I'm not sure it's worth it this way

But nyxathid says in chosen opponents hand, but the effect of choosing doesn't happen. So there is no chosen opponent, so it doesn't get a minus right?

As there is not a "when" in the text of its ability, it is not triggered, so it does not work
